So i was checking out the videos for X10 and have a few questions about the directx 9 version that I wasn't able to find.

Obviously, some of the enhancements made in x10 are only possible with an DX10 capable video card. However, do The Game Creators plan on implementing any of these cool effects in the other version? Specifically, things like the ragdoll realism, or more realistic physics. Do I just need to wait it out, or do I need to shell out the cash to upgrade my system and get x10?

I'm still new to the forums, so if I missed an post or something, please point me in the right direction.

Thanks!

...welcome to the FPSC forum.

Yes, the plan is to eventually create a migration upgrade for x9, that will include many of the features currently available with x10...

...absolutely.

His question was a good one. He's got just as much right
to speak as any of us. So he made a mistake where he posted. Big deal.

It actually annoys me that we can't have some great feature updates for X9, I just don't have the money for X10 and DarkPhysics/Ragdoll would make my dreams come true. But Lee wants to keep FPSC Open Source even though people would rather have a better game engine than that...

I still say he should LEAVE it open source and update it with DarkPhysics/DarkAI/etc

OH!!!!! So my dreams may come true, Plystire? Ragdoll and Dark Lights in Classic? Sweet, so FPSC X9 V2.00 may have Dark stuff in it?

NOW, I can't wait!

We already have Dark Lights, they were implemented back in V1.06.....

...and Lee said that FPSC v2 will have ragdoll, water, etc. Or was it v1.09?

Oh...well, I assumed that Dark Lights meant dynamic shadows, then I guess I was wrong.

Just gotta wait a year or two for v2 and then we have ragdolls and X10 stuff?! I can wait 4 years as long as it happens.

Seriously?! Only this summer?! Awesome, even less waiting time!

But taking into account how long it took for 108 to come out, then also waiting for 109, it may not be as soon as we think.

I'll forgive that comment considering your join date.

You obviously have no clue how long it took for 107 to get here. 108 came out in a miraculous amount of time compared to all the other updates.

Considering that most of Lee's work went into 108 and 109 is just easy stuff for him, I don't think it'd take as long. (As long as he remains concentrated, lol) The only bad factor here is that Lee is going to hafta REcode 108 and 109 when he does the migration.

Oi, I left FPSC for a while after 106. Shim took over, then I jumped back in right when 107 came out. I must've lost track of time during my time of leave, so I had no idea how long it took for 107 to come out.

None-the-less, I can wait, I have the headshot feature to keep me entertained for a long time. Next time I'll get my facts straight before posting like that.

On an off-topic note, I've noticed on the keyboard there are three vowels placed in a row... I dunno, I just found that kinda amusing

Remaining off topic for a bit:

To my knowledge, the keyboard was designed around how often a letter was used as well as how easy to get to the key is. (This is why the keyboard isn't in alphabetical order, lol) You'll also notice that "z", "q" and "x" are rather far out the way.

Back on topic:

I hope Lee finds his work to be easier this time around since I would love to have these features available to everyone, maybe then we'll start seeing some more interesting games as well as scripts.
