If you've installed Microsoft's official driver then you can simply use the standard joystick commands without having to specify any details about the controller.

Load up DarkBasics two included controller examples and you'll soon figure out what button is tied to which command; that's all I did, and I have actions tied to everything on the pad bar the guide button.

Hope that helps.

Are you on Windows XP? If anything before, then only unofficial drivers exist for the controller, and it wont work properly. I know, i've tried.

If on Windows XP, download the official driver from Microsoft. Once the driver has been installed, plug in your 360 controller and Windows will set it up.

Press the guide button on the controller once it's been set up, and you'll get an "Achievement" like bubble appear telling you the controller is fine.

From here, just program your game using the standard joypad commands, like listed above. You don't have to identify the controller with DarkBasic, just use the joypad commands for your actions and you're away.

Yes, i am on Windows XP.
And i think i have the driver already, because there is an autolaunch wizard launching when i connect the controller.
But still it doesnt work...

Is it wireless, or wired?

When you press the xbox button, you should see the driver come up, and the correct quadrant on the controller should be lit. If that happens, the controller is conneted. Otherwise, it is not.

Don't trust it, it could be just trying to use a generic driver for joysticks. This won't work, get Microsoft's official driver. See if that helps.

Ever notice how in Microsoft word, the word "microsoft" is auto corrected to be "Microsoft" but "macintosh" just gets the dumb red underline?
