Hello again,

How comes DBS are selling DBPro for £72.99, yet Amazon have it priced at £49.99?

Is there any advantage to paying the extra £23 or shall I just get it from Amazon?

I bought mine from http://www.amazon.co.uk/ and as far as I know it's the just the same as buying from DBS (it comes in a box and the cd is inside a dvd case inside the box).

I hear and I forget. I see and I remember. I do and I understand.

It does seem some-what strange that amazon can sell for so much cheaper than the company that actually produces the software !

I just found one disadvantage after buying from amazon...

newsletter 6 has an offer of free full version of cartography shop with purchases of DBP between 20th June and end of July. But when I enquired I was told the offer didn't apply if you bought your copy anywhere else like amazon.

You have to bear in mind that although CS is free you are paying £72.99 instead of £49.99.

CS is 39.99 USD = 24.2620 GBP so you only save a pound

I always use amazon.co.uk as there just round the corner from my house so get next day delivery x-d

That's if you want Cartography Shop though, if you don't want it then you should purchase from Amazon or Special Reserve.

I'd try http://www.gameplay.co.uk/ (Think that is the url?) I ordered a game late in the day (didn't specify next day delivery) and the game arrived the very next morning, VAT included in the price (£12.99 FFIX my old one got scratched) and free shipping. I expect however they don't sell DBP there, but if they do and you need it quickly I would suggest http://www.gameplay.co.uk/.

Wouldn't touch them with somebody else's.

I once bought a modem from them, marked up as in stock. 3 days later it hadn't arrived. I was told I was low priority, their own shops had higher priority than customers! Asked for money back (they had already charged my card, illegal in the UK until goods are ready for shipment). They refused, I had to explain to them how they had broken the law before I got a refund.

There's nothing I hate more than bad customer service.

Thanks in advance.
All the Best,
StevieVee

Never happened to me before and I've ordered from them several times. They usually have a good order tracking service and are very speedy to send out orders.

Maybe they got in trouble from an incident like yours in the past and have changed their ways?

I've had no trouble with SR. I can think of companies with much worse customer service.

Anyone know what is up with Real Game Tools http://www.realgametools.com/ I went to order DBPro from them via Pay Pal and I get a error saying they cant receive money anymore. I emailed RGT and no reply after 3 weeks.

Regarding Amazon - I wish Amazon.co.uk could ship to Canada but they cant, and Amazon.com and .ca dont have DBPro. So When I order on monday or tuesday I guess I have to pay more. Not to bad tho, Im highly impressed with DBPro, and the community as a whole.

You can risk ordering from Special Reserve:
http://uk.special.reserve.co.uk/q_JL2336_dark_basic_profess.html

But it has been mentioned that some people have had previous trouble so BE WARE!

I've ordered around 30 products from them and I've had no problem. SR are a large(ish), well stocked and staffed business. Its more risky ordering from some weird little shop with one guy that you can't get through to!

If you are to order from SR don't think you're entering a minefield. 99 times out of 1 your order will be despathed nad will reach you within 2 days.

99 times out of 1? They must be giving away a lot of free stuff...

Anyway, I got both DB and DBPro from amazon.co.uk, both in excellent time.

Its the same at local stores like PCWorld.
DarkBasic, and most of the other things they sell are a lot cheaper.
For example:
On this site.......The 3D Gamemaker DVD/CD Box $34.99(was $49.99)
PCWorld............Same package...................£19 (about $28)

Its strange that their own site sells all their products for much more than any other outlet. You would think it would have at least 10 to 15% off because of the users here!?!

Ta ta for now

They proberly have to buy them of the publisher/distributer like everyone else.

Amazon and pcworld proberly buy serveral hundred times more software than this site does and would be able to get them cheaper. They also might have any number of other deals with the publishers helping them to have lower prices.

Agreed, I've never been ripped off by them but apparently Stevie was so you can't say it will never happen.
