I have only had DBPro for a few weeks now and have basic graphics and collison detection running fine so far. Don't get me wrong I aint one of these newbies that thinks they can just buy the programme and make the next Final Fantasy game. But I was just wondering how long it took you guys to get your first game up and running and put on site. I have antisipated about 6 months for my first release x-d

It's been 2 years and I still haven't... then again, I haven't started anything either.

My first real DB game came to an abrupt and unfinished end. My second, Sherman 2 (which is currently #49 in Freewarefiles.com's top 100!), took 13 months to complete. Phew!

How long a game takes to complete is greatly dependent on how high your ambitions are: most people will start out with fairly simple games, particularly 2D ones, but I made the perhaps stupid descision to jump right into the deep end!

My first 'real' games were my retro competition entries (Duck Hunter 3D and Sphong), one took four weeks, the other took four hours. The 20 line challenge things I can come up with in under an hour. But then, those aren't exactly commercial quality.
