Well Nvidia's latest and hopefully greatest GPU has hit the market today. The 9800GX2 it's a dual video card, and looking at those specs it looks totally sweet!

But at a price of AU$800 I think I'll wait a while! Also I couldn't find any reviews, but it's only come out!

That's not a graphics card! That's a graphics brick! Seriously, how much bigger are these going to get? We're going to need a separate base unit just for the GPU if this sudden, exponential increase in card size continues!

I wouldn't just yet, so many new things come out every so often that you're better off waiting for a much much better piece of hardware. That is, unless you're like me and have a Radeon 9550 from like 2003. That's when you should upgrade.

The way things seem to be getting nowadays with all hardware cooking itself to death and requiring insane cooling and all... I see someone who discovers a good (non-air or water based) method for home PC cooling will become a very rich man.

Sounds impressive, but I agree on the Radeon 9550 sentiment, mine is still keeping me going (ever so slightly)

It's funny how they say uber-powered... but it's sorta like when a parent or otherwise older adult says something "cool" It just doesn't come out right and you're left lolling in your head.

Uber doesn't even mean super
I've had countless German teachers yell at me for using uber as words instead of 'about'.

the history of the word uber.

Your German teachers are annoying if they can't understand the fun in it

I means "above" or "over"... Ubermensch is a term for "superhuman", it does mean super.

Does anyone remember when graphics cards were this teeny-weeny? Or generally small enough to actually fit in the case?

You're gonna need at least a C2D at 3.0GHz to take advantage of that thing. Even my X2 is bottlenecking my 9600GT.

They still make those, but they're targeted at HTPCs and not hardcore gaming. They also sometimes come with shortened brackets for the casings that need them. Look at the HD 3450 http://www.legitreviews.com/article/652/1/
