Actually you might be able to pick them up cheaper, just without the nVidia 8800, as I should be getting £1000 soon, I've been looking at gaming laptop solutions (laptop because I'm a mobile person with mobile needs) and even the latest Mac Books have DirectX 10 graphics cards (pressumably for when OpenGL 3 arises or people who install Vista onto a bootcamp partition) - the card the MacBook now comes with is the Intel GML X3100, though not a top of the range card, but it appears quite powerful and is capable of using DirectX 10 and PS3 (according to wikipedia) As the MacBook is about £700, no doubt you'll find PC Laptops of a similar spec cheaper.
Of course, I doubt the Intel equivalent is as good as the nVidia 8800, but it's an option and if I buy the MacBook I can always comment how well it runs Vista and directX10 under a different partition.
