did you try deleting the local content for CS and redownloading it? uninstalling steam and reinstalling should do nothing, as you have stated.

Try right-clicking on the game, then going to properties then local files, defragment them, and then verify them. If that does not work there must be some problem with outbound/inbound data from Steam or something.

I unistalled/reinstalled steam after deleting all the local content and even put it in a different directory.

I'll try a defragment and verify one last time and then I'll call support.

Well, sorry to stir up anything. And as I recall... I never said you
couldn't say anything. You just made that up yourself. And yet again
you mock me by warning the mods that they might kill themselves.
I'm done here.

@ Jeku-
Also if mine was to be erased. You should erase the others.
Zeke Games is the same height as mine was and mine was shorter. You should be fair and erase others as well. Sorry is I seemed to get
mad about that. I was advertising IDG and I thought it was small
enough, so that was my next thought. "It was erased because it
was promoting IDG."

Ill dig it out late"

Even if that is the case:

1) Most people have an internet connection
2) You only need to connect to activate. If you disconnect after that, it (The orange box at least) can install off of the disk (advantage vs. HL2 for instance)
3) Turn off game updates"

if people dont hyave internet then how do the post

For anyone who cares, I finally got it working. I've been having troubles with Norton Anti-Virus and recently said to heck with it and bought Windows Live OneCare to replace Norton and ZoneAlarm. Suddenly Steam starts working correctly again

ahhhhhhh...
norton blocks anything of mine that tries to connect with the internet, but it asks if I want to add it to my allow list. I love norton.

Norton used to be great, I had System Works for awhile, and when I got Vista got AntiVirus so it would actually work

Suddenly it starts acting up though, even after re-installing it, and while I had no idea it was [possibly] the reason Steam wasn't working removing that and Zone Alarm did the job.

Do I know you? Well if you're gonna use my name spell it right (it's got an 'e')
