I think there is more of a double standard for adverts. This is a long time member selling a book that could be useful, and the starting bid is more than fair. As for referrals, that's a different story. I feel the many people here will find it more useful than annoying.

Well, it is an advert for a book from a competing game-development company (Torque). It's a fair ad, fair price, but it's still against the rules, I think.

How is this thread even allowed? I think that was a bad judgment call by whichever Mod allowed this. It's like pimping your own site, only worse, it turns the Geek Culture board further down the useless path it's on by allowing anyone free advertising for what ever they're selling.
