Because it's DirectX - that's what normally happens. Not exactly sure what the remedy is with DBPro, but you could start with disabling the system keys.

Ah - maybe it's only full-screen apps that do that then. I remember most commercial DirectX games used to have problems like that a while back - and the same problem exists in DBC.

Maybe the problem exists only in certain screen modes?...

OK - didn't know that (been so long since I used it).

In that case the only thing I can suggest is that you try a different screen mode. If you aren't running it in a window, try that to see if it gets around the problem. Is there a full-screen windowed mode as well as exclusive mode?

windowsKiller or TDK: can you tell me why, if I scale DOWN an image using SCALE IMAGE, I see some weird vertical/horizontal lines ... like some cubes ... it's like the stretching method scales the image very poorly ... is this normal ??? thanks fellas

but filtered/mip-mapped images aren't used for textures only ??? My image is a background image so I can't afford to have a blurry image transformed into mip-maps ...

I want to scale it because my game has different resolution modes ... so the image being 1280 x 960 has to be scaled down for 640 x 480 ( for example )

sorry for the mislead ... by "memory" I meant filesize, not actual memory ... so I don't want my game to have 4x size .... thought I could find a way to reduce the size of the images
