So, I just upgraded my live messenger and now MSN Explorer (which is what I usually use) won't start, complaining about "Msn Messenger not beeing installed".
It prompts me to press a "repair button"; upon doing so, the application (Msn Explorer) crashes.

This is damn annoying; help please?

I think you'd be hard pressed to find anyone here who's been in that situation.

Switch to Firefox or at least IE, if you'd much rather use MSN Explorer, check the ms knowledgebase.

Hurray for teh logd!

Using IE right now, but I kind of enjoyed having the online contacts visible (instead of gooing through my messenger list, which also displays the offline ones).
There were other good stuff in MSN Explorer too, such as far from as many pop-ups as IE gives, and so forth.

And what's up with FireFox anyways?

Edit: Ah, just noticed that the WLM upgrade displays the connected people on top of the lists. That's about time

Well, that's about it - IE tends to get infected with most stuff, whilst MSNE never has on my part

I won't argue with you, it will do no good, but you can never take my Firefox away! (yep, tried opera and all the others that I know about)

I'll take opera over ff anyday. Only issue is that a lot of websites are broken on it Most websites don't believe in standards

MSNE uses the IE framework to display the websites, so it has all the same issues (spyware, etc.)

Just the uninformed Gil, the ignorant, the down trodden lost souls! We will awaken them wherever they are whenever we can! Firefox WILL reign supreme one day!

I use Seamonkey, but don't kill me. It uses the same engine as Firefox.

I wish discussing web browsers was against the AUP like religion is. Honestly does it really matter what web browser you use? I use IE because its convenient. All this stuff about getting more spyware, trojans, etc on IE is bs as I have never had a problem and been using IE for a long time. I very rarely have problems with web pages not displaying properly, and if I do it's usually only minor problems.

So tell me, why should I waste the time to download some other browser, that isn't integrated into Windows so I would still have to use IE as well anyway.

That would be a good idea, although I might switch soon since IE8 will support standards.

I'm not bashing anyone else's browser, Dink is doing that.

Nobody is saying you have to, if IE works fine for you, then so be it.

What's being said is that IE is less secure than FF, which, for a lot of people have discovered first-hand by getting a load of spyware/malware etc. After they made the switch to Firefox, no more problems!

If you haven't had any problems with IE, good job, but for those that have had problems, they are entitled to voice their opinions on IE, just like you can voice your opinion on Firefox.

Hmm, I never knew that, i'll be looking out for a few IE8 beta's now.

That's because us web developers are kind enough to continue designing workarounds for Internet Explorer

Isn't Gecko the name of the Firefox rendering engine, pretty much like Trident is IE's?
