I want to make WoW style quests where you have to take a certain number of animal parts to someone.

I can do it with one using the conditional event and then checking to see if its in the inventory. But I want it to be like 5 or 10 of something. I cant seem to figure it out...

I googled and didnt get any help

Thanks

Dun remember anymore. Go ask your friend Ben and Fred. Perhaps they know about it?

Yeah I use those to but i still dont get what the problem here is.... considering you can get away with asking about how to get past a difficult part of a video game, I dont see how this is less qualified as that...

Dont do it! WOW quests are really tedious and lame!!!

Also, maybe you should actually get something where you program.

By the power of greysku...er google!

Seems the RPG Maker dudes have a new tool on their hands.

But no, not a clue, didn't even know the proggy exists, I'm still living in the age of RPG Maker 2003 and I barely use that anymore.

You should be able to set a variable to the number of a certain item in your inventory. Well it would work in XP and older, I don't know how much they changed it from those versions.

When you go to turn the quest in, the first command in your event should be to change a variable. Then you just choose which variable you want to change, the operator should be Set or something like that, and the operand should be Item, and then you choose which item, I think. And it should change the variable to the number of items you have in your inventory.

Then you would do a conditional statement and check to see if the variable is equal to the amount required by the quest.

Sad to see RPGmaker hasn't evolved much. I use to love it, great work making quirky games with funny dialogue. But I've made my Final Fantasies and now I wanna make my Diablos yet this thing is still stuck in the past.

I feel the same way, but its still cute and I end up trying them out anyway. Although the new Ruby scripting they added in XP, and I guess are still using, allows people to do some pretty cool things. Still limited however.

I've heard about the Ruby scripting, my friend who uses it says he's got Summoning and side battle systems running - which I suppose makes it useful, but it could do with a bit more evolving in game play terms - graphically it's better, now with hi-res sprites and VX has an improved sprite system and I'm sure the scripting system makes it more customizable.

But, RPGM 2003 still get kicks out of me and is good for visualizing my projects when I actually get the bloody time to code them.

Rpg Maker Vx is basically just like 2003 just flasher. Alot of people want some of RXPs features back though. I have customized the xp sprites and tilesets to work in Rpg Maker VX...Its way better. I have moved on since those good ol' days of Rpg Maker though...

Megabump?

And I felt like VX seemed a bet of a step backwards; the mapmaker, battles and spritesets were all awful.
