I liked the demo of BF2142 so much I bought a 2nd hand copy off ebay.

It arrived today. Original box, DVD and manual. But it won't play, just says the CD key is already registered!?!?!

Has anyone had this before and found a solution? Why should it matter if somone has made an account before? I've got the damn physical copy it should be the previous owner who cannot play! Grr!

Well, contacted seller and he don't seem to want to give up his account details so I'm basically stuffed unless anyone knows a solution other than ebay buyer protection (I'll complain the item unusable).

Beware of any pre owned EA games looks like they've got copy protection back-to-front! What happened to good old "if the CD is not in the drive your not playing!"

If its like valve.. Then just send pics of case and CD Key to EA and tell little about your brother or lie a bit and say your account is stealed

This worked for me when my Steam account was actually hijaked.. They resetted my pasword and i changed every info.

I had the same problem, but can't be any help because I gave up - I needed a replacement disc anyway to install on my sons lappy, but bought it hoping to be able to play against him, instead he's setup with my user name etc. Knowing me I'll go buy it again so I can have a new account for him, that's 3 copies of BF2142, 3 copies of BF2(360), I should really buy shares in EA instead!.

I actually bought mine from Amazon, which is why I will never buy a pre-owned PC game from them again.

EA's methods are a real pain though, it's like they're trying to be like Valve, only they don't realize that we'd rather not have EA downloaders running in the background the whole time, especially not one as badly coded as theirs.

I've never played the game but I'm sure somewhere on the packaging there's a warning not to swap games. Otherwise it's ridiculous that it wouldn't let you do that.

well i bought 2142 and had it on my laptop then it crashed and when i reinstalle it it said the key was still in use so i was pissed...and after i bought my new comp i got BF2 deluxe pack and it worked fine for a while but when it came time to patch...it was the buggiest patchign i have ever seen i had t reinstall the game like 3 times because of the dumb patches....i hardley buy any EA games after those two experiences...ahhhhhhhhh
