I am new to DB.

I built a small test prog. The compiled exe result in DBpro was 6+ MB.

I switched over to DarkGDK. The exact same copy of the prog, after fiddling with the linker options in Visual C++ and some packing was only 244K!

For me this was quite a startling difference. Using DarkGDK is the way to go, there is no "unpacking to temp dirs" time as apps are launched and one has the added advantage of C++ functionality.

Did anyone have similar results and are there any specific resources that explain all the compile/linker functions of Visual C++ when used with DarkGDK code?

I never used DB. But I noticed in DarkGDK the exe from debug mode is much larger than the exe from release mode. Maybe there is a release option for DBpro too?

yeh, if you see the DB PRO dll's, most are in debug mode, for which I don't understand why.
