Lite-On are supposedly working on BD drives for a next generation 360 coming in the 2nd half of this year. The new 360 will also be smaller and use less power and have a lower production cost, it will also be sold with a loss due to the higher price of BD.

I wonder if games in the future will be sold on BD and thus current owners would need to buy an external BD player.

just get a PS3, has Blue-Ray already! seems like Microsoft have missed the boat this time LOL, I have a PS3 and damn, makes no sound at all! The only good thing about xbox is the XNA, if it didn't have that, everyone would be going for PS3!

I'm pretty sure this has been shot down as Microsoft is pushing for digital downloads in the format wars now. This article was also written on April 1st so it's hard to tell if it's serious or not, but I don't think I'd even trust it as a real source for information. Wait for an official statement from MS.

Digital downloads are the future. BlueRay was dead before it hit the streets.

The very fact that your trying to be a tough guy on the internet clearly means you are actually very weak. I'm not the type of guy you would mess with face to face. The very fact you are insulting somebody on the internet just says something about you.

I try to be nice round here, I've helped people and I've given a lot to this forum. I even put my own money into a compo over at the 3D chat board as an incentive for people to take part.

It's quite clear the Mods need help in keeping this board in order, If your not intelligent enough to notice the thread Batvink put on top of this forum, or the fact that the man here is talking about a 360, NOT a PS3, then more fool you.

I will have no more dealings with you, as you have already pissed me off no end.

I would be so pissed if I had to re-buy a 360 because of that. If Microsoft wants to make a new version and stop releasing regular games in favor of Blu-ray then they can buy me and everyone else a new 360. God help them if this is real, but seeing as it was on April 1st, its probably not.

I second that.
I really hope microsoft are not that foolish. Anyway surely its down to the developers decision weather or not they develop for bluray?

If I were a game developer I would stay away from the bluray format knowing a large number of my audience would not have support for it.

[EDIT]Also I'm not sure if they would bundle the bluray with newer models. They diddn't do so with the HDDVD Drive, they could have easily put that in the Elite model.[/EDIT]

Not until we'll have super-hyper-mega-hi-speed internet. And we'll wait a bit. BD 25GB is not enough for MGS4. It will use the 50GB two-layer ones try to download THAT through the internet...

Even if this turns out to be true, which I doubt as Microsoft has already denied it once before, they will never release games on Blu-Ray as they made it quite clear when they released the HD-DVD drive it would never be used for games.

I have a Ps3 and do you see me waving it around like I am a total fanboy. yes, i made a thread a while back but that was when i only knew most of the stuff about ps3.

and ya the 360 is really loud espesialy when you have extra fans on it
