Well Considering this is a programmers forum I dont think I'll get any positive answers, but do any of you get off the couch playing Cod4 and actually go get shot by semi-plastic balls filled with non-toxic paint!!(sounds fun doesn't it?)... Anywho if you do actually play paintball, woodsball etc. Post you're marker specs and any problems you may find with your Marker here!

Just a side note here:

If you havn't played paintball yet, but you play COD4 I suggest you don't use the same tactics you use in the game becuase that will end in getting 24 semi-plastic balls filled with non-toxic paint in the nuts....

To all those woodsballers out there keep on ballin'!

I paintball but I just rent my gear-I can only afford to go like 3-4 times a year so its just not worth forking out like $300. I just use the Tippman 98s that the place has got-a pretty decent beginners gun I would say. I only play speedball...not woodsball.

For those who've never tried it I really recommend it. There is nothing as satisfying as jumping over an inflatable bunker and shooting your friend a bunch of times while you're in the air.

Lucky, my school believes paintballing "promotes violence"

I like to paintball occasionally. I just rent when I go, but I LOVE grenades, especially setting them up with wire trips! Or, if you are playing overnight like I do setting them up to booby trap the enemy tents! Nothing worse than sleeping in grenade paint!

I've gone 4-5 times before, I like it a lot, but the only good place is about an hour away and it costs quite a bit.

I used to go a couple of times a year, but that was quite some time ago. It was at a properly organised professional site and was a lot of fun, especially in the zones containing old military vehicles.
If anyone is thinking of going for the first time, I recommend wearing a scarf (you don't want to get hit in the bare throat), gloves (getting hit across the knuckles is very painful) and two pairs of socks - one on your feet and one stuffed down the front of your trousers for extra protection!

i paintball. not all that often because its so darn expensive (at least if you want decent paint at $40-$60 per case)

my specs:

Spyder VS1
16 in. J&J Ceramic Barrel
Halo TSA Frontman Hopper

it works really well, except i have to make sure the hopper is really secure or it screws up the paint really bad.

and, woodsballing is my favorite. the next thing i want to do is go to a big game. those sound like a lot of fun

Ive paintballed before a comple of times but I prefer Airsoft, In the neighborhood I live in I can do it almost anywhere in the fields and stuff and people dont call the cops, worst that will happen is that youll get a stern talking too
Plus its not that expensive, buy a good gun for 80 bucks and thats almost it. My friend can get 5000 bbs for 6 dollars. Its really fun and it doesnt cost almost anything, I play at least 2 times a week if possible, I have an m14 sniper rifle and a mp5 auto electric gun that is quite good.

Just wondering, how does getting hit with an airsoft gun compare to a paintball?

Yeah, I prefer airsoft to paintball too, only the bullets just don't go as fast, but it's a lot less messy and a lot more portable and adaptable, I play around my house often.

Quote: "Just wondering, how does getting hit with an airsoft gun compare to a paintball?"

It doesn't, which is another advantage, especially if you're wearing multiple layers. You can feel it, but it generally doesn't hurt, unless you're at close range, hit on bare skin, and/or the gun is powerful. It can leave bruises, but it won't do it if you get shot from 30ft away through a sweatshirt like paintball will .

I have been playing for about 2 years now and I really like the sport (yeah! It is actually a sport).
There is a walkon near the place I live, usualy there is about 60 players there every sunday

I have:
Tippmann A5
14" Progressivebarrell (ceramic)
3000psi airsystem

I am going to buy a Responsive Trigger when I have a little more money

Good to see there are a few more players around the forum, keep it up.

I used to years ago. Loads of fun, regardless of massive bruising There used to be a place in the UK (closed now I believe) which was an old military base, and they converted the barracks into a paintball site. Was well cool. Lots of hiding in buildings and sniping basically. My favourite was standing on a sink 2 stories up and sniping down through an old air vent. Nice Plus they had slides down to the ground from some of the higher stories, so you could do a right old Die Hard effort jumping out of the window and sliding down while firing (and missing badly) The place totally ruled compared to same old forest effort. And was fun because was a place that used to have housewives complaining outside about nuclear weapons, and they still kept it up! Even though was now a paintball site. Heheheh

Cheers

<3 paintballing. the first time i went i didnt have a clue, i was trying to be like a sniper, not realising that the range of the guns is limitted to less than a few miles

but since then i've got better at it, i still have the problem of running out of ammo mid-battle though... and i still get annoyed by **************'s who dont own up when you shoot them XD

last week i came out of the woods with 9 bruises (1 either side of my nutsack), and a damaged nuckle (went numb whenever i tried to bend it as the result of a direct hit), but im confident i gave out at least as many bruises to the other side

I only went paintballing once, but I'm going on a school trip soon and my friend is on about going during the holidays. I would like to do it properly, but I don't have that kind of money to throw about. Good way to get the adrenaline going. Best part was when I got seperated from my group in a densely wooded area. About ten minutes of wading through branches, thorns and bushes, fire opened up on all sides. The paintballs ripped through the trees over my head and a lot of them found their target. I fired blindly through the shrubbery but it was no good. I ended up making a dash for it. The whole thing felt like a war film. Then I eventually ended up back at the refreshment stand.

I always ran out of ammo, but last time I did a bit of a Rambo effort and ran out of gas. Luckily one of the marshalls was around to give me one. Expensive though...

One time I was hiding in a house with the left overs of our team (about 3 of us and about 15 of them or so). We could hear them looking for us all over, so we hid in the cupboards and under the stairs. In the end they spotted us and started surrounding the building. Before I know it, my good olde comrades dropped our carefully laid plans and jumped out of the windows and ran for it. Then a bloke came flying through the door and was like popping off shots like billyio as he dived to the floor. I gave it back at him and was like 10 shots each at close range. Amazingly all of them missed each of us. We were like checking for about 30 seconds with a marshall checking too. In the end it turned out only one hit him in the knuckle but bounced off (really painful though heh). So then the marshall got us to stand off against each other, then I had 10 seconds to run like hell before he could do anything. Would have worked fine if everyone outside didn't shoot the hell out of me. Was like sundance kid stuff. Except I was really bruised and not dead Nasty...

airsoft only hurts when u have a dumb @$$ brother who decides to unload a whole 100 pellet round of bullets straight at your bare foot from 5 feet away... ok... i let him do it to prove it didnt hurt. i was wrong.

You can get a decent one (about 300FPS), for only about $30, and many of them aren't really complicated, especially pistols, I even have a clear one I can see inside and see how it works, pretty simple.

Its just an air rifle, but its the brand that cost, plus the scope was about £80. I've only used it in my back yard, haven't actually had the chance of using it in the wild

It can kill small animals, from rats to rabbits. I think it's capped at 13 pounds of pressure, the max you can have it at (12-13).

Then it's not an airsoft gun, it's a pellet gun.

Love paintballing but havent had a chance off work to go on a good trip in a long time(only like woodsball). I got a cheap 100 dollar JT Recon Tac 5 with 14" "rifled" barrel (rifling on a paintball gun is different than a real gun). I recently started constucting my own ghillie suit to really amp up the suprise factor but it will be a few days before im done with it. A friend of mine has a homemade mortar that shoots water balloons filled with paint a few hundred feet but has only been used once in battle, it does keeps you on your toes tho, no one wants a face full of paint! So yea, my family and friends have had dozens of trips, and I love it more than Dark Basic lol, just havent done it in a while. Cool to see so many others out there paintballing.

I have two markers

Marker one

Tippman x7 with e-grip and double trigger. Q-loader and BSA
30MM RED DOT SIGHT. I have the remote line as well for balance.

Pros

fast firing with the grip but most places ban full auto. Q-loader is a bit problem where you first get it. Sit down at the computer and watch ther qloader videos twenty times. They are good once you have the loading down. Sight is good for ambushes.

Cons

You have to have a good air tank if you shot too fast the air doesn't get the presser higher enough to make the ball leave the gun. The gun is a bit too back heavy if you don't go remote.

Marker two

ADG tac one with Q-bow and the skiff carbon barral. Same sight as before.

Pro

Almost soundless. Very low profile. Very accurate.

Cons

Slower firing. Remote line sometimes catches on things. Must use the element of suprise or flanking. The use of camo and the fact your going to get wet and muddy. Less running more crawling. Depending on the feild flanking can be good fun but if its a small feild or its a feild with no veg then your playing like everyone else.

I'll add something later on.

i havent played paintball yet but i want to at some stage,
although i do work at battlefield live (laser skirmish),

one thing i really want to play though is airsoft, but its illegal here in aus, (but apparently its going to be made legal again under a new legislation)

as for owning a paintball gun, i think thats also illegal here for anyone without a proper firearms license (madness isnt it, all because of one crazy guy in Port Aurthur)

Paintball for me? I'd rather do airsoft, but the folks don't like guns (I'd leave the pellets somewhere not in the gun, though).

I used to paintball a few years ago. I didn't have anything special I just had a spider Rodeo. But when I was paintballing I was going once a month maybe twice. I haven't been in years though. It's just too expensive.

Its a fast growing sport. I read somewere that Paintball is bigger than Rugby in the UK, and that must be big.
I havent plyed for months now, still waiting for the outdoor level to open.
Sometimes we get up to 40 players in each team, wich means 80 people shooting paint, its a lot of noice
The owner of this place is kind of crazy, first he tells everyone to not shoot at him since he is a ref, but then he pick up a marker and start to shoot at the other team.
