hey there !!! I have a question: let's say I have a 4096x4096x32 .BMP file and a 4096x4096x32 .PNG file ... the .PNG is 20 times smaller than the .BMP ... my question is this: when loaded inside the video memory, are both occupying the same amount of space ??? I mean, when writing in the videocard's memory, does the file size count, or does the file resolution and bit depth count ?

Could you help me treat my injured Dino-Fly ?

Yes.

No.

Most languages try to keep all the surfaces the same depth in memory. So if your screen mode is 32bit, then it'll hold your images in 32bit form also, even if the images are only 16 or 8bit.
