Just nailed another one of those hard to get stars in Guitar Hero 2; the 5th one on Hangar 18, one of the hardest songs (according to my scores it's nr. 8 of 64). 11 stars remaining

Forgot to mention that I'm now back into top 2250 on PS2, still some ranks left to top 2500 on all formats (PS2 and 360).

Still quite some way to go, haven't beaten Jordan yet.

Good work...hang on, there was a Megadeth song on Guitar Hero, another on Guitar Hero II, but none on Guitar Hero III?

HOW DARE THEY!

That's like opening a paket of crisps and finding nought but earth and a potato inside (The potato being a Metallica song, good but not perfect)...oh well, I never was any good at Guitar Hero.

I can get 53% through Jordan. :/ How far have you gotten? If farther than me, what's your "technique"? I really wanna beat that song -- my fingers are starten to hurt now. :/

My email actually IS "nocannedmeat@gmail.com". Why? I don't know.

I've not even played Jordan much. I've figured I should get really good at the other songs first. Maybe practicing Jordan is a good way to get better, I don't know. I don't like playing in practice mode anyways.

How many stars do you have left? Are you playing on PS2 or 360?

Very cool! I finally beat 'The Devil Went Down To Georgia', got the 5th star on 'Take This Life', got the 4th star on 'Through The Fire And Flames', and I now have a total of 12 FCs. Still can't five-star 'Raining Blood', though, I can't stand that song. Congrats again, though, I remember when I first started GH2 I failed Hangar 18 like a hundred times.

Looking good, although I don't play GH3 4th on TTFAF sounds impressive, only played it once in pro face-off so I don't know the SP layout or how difficult the notes really are. I really should beat Lou on Hard and unlock the damn song but I don't feel like playing GH3 at all.

12 FCs is pretty good (if they are all on expert?), I got 5 in GH2, 3 in 80s (+ one 100%) and I think 7-9 in GH1 IIRC (got photos on my phone), might not have been all FCs though.

Thanks, it took awhile, I got really lucky earlier with 460K, now I can only get 420K max. Still 4 stars, but not great.

Yep, all on expert. I should have more like 20-25, but I always get nervous at the end and miss a note - that's happened to me on at least 10 songs I can think of.

Oh, and about Jordan, you should try it next time you get the chance, I know you haven't played it much but it's really not as hard as it looks, I just got back on GH2 and 4-starred it first try on Expert; the key is to get the through the first part of the solo (mostly ascending triplets, with some descending at the end) without SP, then use it about halfway through the trills.

I really suck when the screen gets filled with HO/PO, I'm quite good with most other things. As a result my rankings on the 2nd last tier in 80s are really high and I have bad rankings on all the hardest songs in both GH2 and 80s.

I just heard that we'll be playing Guitar Hero tomorrow at this event and I would guess it's GH3. So I thought I should practice a little, getting used to the GH3 style again. But damn, the sound quality is so bad I can't stand playing playing it. I tired TTFAF and a few other songs at a convention but I just got bored due to the sound quality.

I'm not sure what songs you'll be playing, but a lot of people like 'Cult of Personality', 'Stricken', TTFAF, 'Knights of Cydonia', 'Cliffs of Dover', and 'Impulse', so you might want to warm up a little with those. In fact, I can't remember the last time someone picked a song other than those (except TDWDTG, but that's DLC) online.

I have no idea what skill level I'll be playing against. This is a gathering of media companies at the building where I have my office. I doubt there will be many who can play on hard and perhaps none who can play on Expert. At the convention we had a GH2 competition but it was a gathering of board, card and RPG players and I even beat the owner 4:1 in score on Hard most of the time. We had 2 on Hard and 2 on Medium and around 8 on Easy

I might not come out as a winner tomorrow if it's gonna be a GH3 competition as it's really hard hitting the notes when I'm not used to the new fret board. If we are playing on 360 then perhaps I can persuade them to put in GH2. Although I find the Explorer to be the worst guitar of them all, the tip is in the way of my elbow. And the new LP have such a sharp edge I hurt my arm. The SG is shaped to be played on, love it; I would have preferred a steeper SP activation though, and no cord.

... I might as well ask, if anyone wants to give away Guitar Hero 3, email me, please. (lol, gotta love the "mouch", huh?)

Anyways, I'm not that good at guitar hero 2, most songs have 3 stars (shouting at the devil has 5 stars). For some reason I'm better at the game playing with the PS2 controller (Managed 4-5 stars on Thunderhorse that way), but with the guitar my hands feel "numb" in the sense that I don't really have controller over either of my ring fingers (making it difficult for certain notes to be played).

I like playing the song Radium Eyes though because it helps my fingers. Also with jordan the pattern is easy to understand (If you look at it close enough), it's just hitting the notes in perfect timing. If you hit a wrong note it puts you down more than if you miss a note.

Cheers,

-naota

I think playing on the guitar is half the fun of the game.

And no, I'm not giving GH3 away

I just started a ScoreHero account after seeing yours, DA. It's pretty cool, it makes it so easy to find out what songs I need to improve the most on.

I haven't filled out most of the percents and streaks yet, only scores.

Well, was worth a shot.

I don't have enough internet time (normally - today is sort of an exception) to make an account though.

Anyways, I'm gonna try again at Jordan later on today.

Nice rank, seems comparable to my 80s rank but I have no idea how hard people have tried to get high scores so far. BTW, your GH3 All rank is 1 below my GH2 All rank.

Back home again. So, nobody had ever even played on anything but easy. I sucked pretty bad on Expert, as it was GH3; couldn't nail any HO/PO.

First time I've played on the Karmer. I don't like the shape of the head but that's the only thing I can really complain about. The body shape is the same as the SG so it's very comfortable to play with and it's wireless. The start and select buttons are placed differently, down by the whammy. The start button might be a bit hard to reach but the select button might be easy to use during play.

We didn't play much before we switched to a dance game; great party game except you need a more expensive hard dance pad.

I remember when my general music teacher let us bring in GH3 to play on the last day of the class. Everyone was playing on easy, then I went to expert and everyone was like *gasp* "He's playing expert..." It was pretty great, considering everyone who had played previous to me there failed on easy.

Yeah, playing on expert usually gives some interesting reactions I got my share of applause. My biggest problem is that i know nobody who plays as seriously as me.

But I did get 2 guys who wants to try out Puerto Rico (board game). Finally, enough players for a game
