Hi,

What a game! I've recently just completed this and must say that it is one the best if not the best game I have ever played.

Has anybody else played this here? It's a brilliant game, if you haven't played it I stringly suggest you get and give a try.

Much good work is lost for the lack of a little more.

It's highly confusing though don't you think. There is so many questions left unanswered but, I think that is part of the attraction.

I played the first one (The Longest Journey) for a little while and I got stuck so stupidly I moved onto Dreamfall but, (little bit of a spoiler)
.

To anyone who hasn't played either of these games, I recommend playing the first through to the end before starting Dreamfall.

Much good work is lost for the lack of a little more.

I agree--- it's one of my top 10 games of all time. Like you, I completed the sequel before the first one. Come to think of it, I still haven't completed the first one.

I only ever played the first one - how does Dreamfall compare? I heard it wasn't as good or had been dumbed down, and since they never released a demo I just decided not to get it.

I'm not actually a Kiwi, I just randomly thought it up one day.

Quote: "since they never released a demo I just decided not to get it."

NOT TRUE! I tried the demo before I bought.

It's easier than the first, aside from that it compares just fine. The easiness is made up for in the game feeling much more like reading a novel, and feeling a lot less tedious in places. The combat system is a bit odd, but it's pretty easy, so doesn't really get in the way of the game.

Seriously, the most emotional experience I've had in a game. Ever. This is really worth a buy.

I found Dreamfall first, and I think you could play either in any order. There was a lot more mystery, playing the second first.

I think it's the same with most older games compared to newer ones, older games seem to leave the player to their own devices and newer games provide more hints and make things a little more obvious.

For instance, the first tombraider (although not hard) used to leave you to figure things out but, the newer ones place little sparkling items so you can see what you have to do. Plus the levels are designed in such a way that your attention is brought to things of interest, like placing pointy rocks directed towards where you need to get to, without being blantently obvious

But, there is some nice puzzles in Dreamfall one that got me was the (not saying too much) wall where the waterfall is in the caves.

Yeah, with today's A.D.D. society, you cant really have a game with too much slow moments and intricate puzzles.

Pity.

Classic Adventure ftw.

The only criticism I have of Dreamfall is the combat system. Why... why... why do this in an adventure game to start with? And if you're going to do it, why do it so half-baked? There are only two or three instances in the game where you're required to fight (that I know of), but when you do, it's awful.

I recommend everyone to get these games on Steam right away

I must admit I quite enjoyed Dreamfall. Didn't think I was gonna like it when I first started playing but it grows on you. Got the first one as well on Steam but haven't got round to playing it yet.

Are they making anymore? Vaguely remember a thread on here were it was mentioned they were gonna be doing episodic content, but I probably made that up.

Well, the story's not nearly done, but I hope the next game come out with less time in between than the first two.

And I got these both before they were on steam...
