I made a .gif image. Can it be used for as an animated sprite (walk, run, idle, ect.)? If so, how do you do it? I'm lost.

So let's say I have a sprite sheet. Something like this:
http://www.spriters-resource.com/nintendo/mario/platform/smw/display.php?file=http://www.spriters-resource.com/nintendo/mario/platform/smw/../../rpg/mlcustoms/mlczinmariocape.png

And let's say I have ONLY the running sprites copied to another file, for just running. So now I have that spritesheet, right? Do I save each sprite in 1 file each, or do I just use that? And when I load it in DBPro, what codes do you use to make it understand that I want the images put together so that it seems like he's running?
