Look at image.
When player pickup an object , will hide hands and object is far of player !
There isn't any way that solve this problem ?
That object come to more near player?
I hope that solve this in next versions.

The life is standby ... So decide for you'r target and then you'll see that you are arrived and get it.

I know what you mean, but I have had some "expert" gamers test my games and they are very impressed that I could get the player to pick up things and move them around. So I guess that doesn't bother me so much. I haven't played any games (I personally am not a gamer - just a developer) and so I don't know if there can be a more realistic look to it.

Yea, it is kinda dumb and thats what bothered me at first. I got over it.

Anyway, I think there might be some collision problems that might make it difficult to get it closer. You see, the "player" who is invisible is actually a rectangular box or sphere. The reason is so that collisions can be detected with the player. It is hard-coded in the engine that if the player (the box) and the object that can be moved is within a certain distance then the object can be picked up. The code to do that is probably in a function or sub routine and the object is being moved according to how the player is moving. It is all complex and then adding arms or hands would make it even more complex. All of this code is generated by FPSC for us and we don't have to worry about it.

Goth, it would be interesting for me to see a game that actually has hands picking up the object. If you have a name of a game that has this in it, pass it along so I can see if either of my grandsons has it.

In XIII, you can pick up objects (chairs, bottles, glass shards, etc.) and use them as weapons. And the player is a sphere; if it was changed to a human model, then player/entity or player/segment collision could be better.

crysis did this
they animated hands "picking up" objects, then hid the hands of screen to avoid object/hand collision problems visually

The player is actually a borble. A combination of an ellipsoid and a sphere that rolls around.

Interesting. I had gotten DBPro before I had gotten FPSC. I thought being a programmer would make it easier for me to learn gaming techniques and not worry so much about graphics. Little did I realize that too is difficult for an old Database, business related programmer.

Anyway I just got the volume 2 hands-on book and am about to go back to school. Prior to that I already had made some headway in using the FP perspective. However, I had just been using a box as I had read somewhere that using just a sphere was not a good idea. However, I never realized one could use an ellipsoid and a sphere together. There goes my head, spinning again.

13 is awesome and so is Crysis As for FPSC, the player interacts very little with the level IMO, but I guess you just have to deal with it.

COBOL Rocks!                               NOT! (I hope my NOT is in the right column)

That is what I am saying... its not a big deal because most players won't be concerned about it.

Just make a HUD for the hands at the bottom of the screen reaching to the middle if associated.
Each object could have its own Hand-HUD so the perspective would be correct. (for different sized objects)

I'm NOT sure. Yes not only tedious and cumbersome but that column related stuff could pull your hair out as well as making sure the section headings are coded properly. However, it's been so long I really can't remember anything about the columns. Kind of vaguely though.

My main two languages were Assembler and COBOL in the beginning -- depending on who I was programming for and what reason. Insurance companies use both Assembler and Cobol. Banks seemed to like COBOL around here and our State gov. used only COBOL. OK I have to watch getting on a tangent.

Never thought of that. Thanks for the tip. However, I probably won't use it. It no longer bothers me nor my young testers.
