I wasn't actually surprised when he came out with this review, agree with him for the most part, but i do enjoy Smash bros anyway.

Ye, I can't stand the game. Everytime I play I question my friend's taste in video games. I thought it was just me, now I know I'm not alone

I mean, compare SSB to something like the Street Fighter series, there's no comparison.

Street Fighter 2 is the best...
But I don't really think of SSB and SF as the same game. Although they're both similar, they're very very different.
I like em both. haven't played the new one yet though.

His language was awful in that review...

he made a really good point about practicing for ages and then losing to some idiot who just pounds buttons. I've realized that was a problem in the majority of fighting games. I think that's why I like SF2 so much... not so much of that. but smash brothers and other games like Dead or Alive, you hit the buttons faster, you win. Even if you're playing a champion.

This pretty much sums up the opinions of people who haven't really played the game and have only occasionally played it at a friends house, only to lose horribly to the experienced owner of the game.

This happens in fighting games that have button combination moves (ie up up a a b b = jumping stylish dragon kick). This obviously excludes the Smash Brothers series.

How could he make it funny if he was constantly positive?

Who said anything about constantly? I've never seen one positive comment come from him .

That's because they're completely different types of fighting games...

No. I own it. And sat through 30 hours the weekend I bought it to play through it, and I agree with what he said.

...Its easier to do moves in Smash Bros. All you have to do is hold a direction and press either A or B.

watch the orange box review

I got annoyed playing smash, I think the most of the brawl levels were terrible, you can make your own but still. The zooming too far thing was irritating too, still a good fun game though, I agree with some of his review.

Smash for the gamecube was so much better Never played the n64 one, wish they would release it for the DS. That would be insane

He liked Psychonauts too.

http://www.escapistmagazine.com/articles/view/editorials/zeropunctuation/1368-Zero-Punctuation-Psychonauts

Many of the other games he's reviewed he's stated it wasn't bad, but not that great, like Assassins Creed, for instance.

I'd much rather see his negative reviews than a positive one. You get more of a feel for how decent a game is. And honestly, half the games I've played over the last few years are pretty terrible anyway.

Played through the single player? Because that's pretty much the only part of the game that sucked, sucked hard as it did.

If you lose to people who do that then you're doing something wrong.

smash is very deep, button mashing will not merit a victory, you'll get grabbed and comboed.
But, nothing wrong with the classics.

Single player does not take 30 hours...

What? How exactly do you lose to people? You HAVE to press a direction and either A or B to attack. ITS THE ONLY WAY TO BEAT PEOPLE.

Well... Unless you just grab them and jump off the edge.

And I can beat people who do use dodge, block, and grab without using any. What's your point?

He was the guy who said
Quote: "Absolutely sublime from start to finish, and I will jam forks into my eyes if I ever use those words to describe anything else ever again. Yeah, I know, it's not very funny to like a game, but eff you, Portal's great, and if you don't think so you must be stupid."

You can do that without button smashing, which is what I was referring to.

I do find this review of Yahtzee's funny because most of the statements he makes are true, and this isn't the first time he gave a game I liked a bad review. But pointing out all of the flaws in a game doesn't mean its a bad game, its just not perfect .

I agree with that movie! Also, if you plan to play Guitar Hero at a party you will find that there are only 4 songs available from start. Also I'm that guy who plays good on expert while others do so-so on easy because I've played it for almost 2 years now.

I button smash, and I'm not exactly brilliant. My friend, who is a championship player, can beat me nearly every time using dodges, counters, shielding exactly when I attack and ledgehogging. Regional, he's 2nd, making him quite good but not the best, but he can thrash me easily.

being able to hold your own button mashing is a plus when you have a group of friends round that some of have never played it because it means they don't get fed up of being thrashed to pieces within seconds. sorry to say i'm a ssb fan, even though i don't own it yet (being one of those friends that just plays other people's lol).

getting ssbb for the wii when it comes out though.

That is HIS opinion of the game. Does it bother me that somebody else doesn't like a game I do? No it doesn't. My friends and I DO enjoy the game and the fact that Yahtzee said it's crap isn't going to change that.

I think Pulp Fiction is a rubbish film. I didn't enjoy it at all, but there are many people who rate it as their favourite film. I've told people who LOVE it that I don't and they just can't accept that. They tell me I obviously don't get it and then proceed to explain it to me. This is how gamers act also, getting incredibly defensive about a game instead of just letting others have there own opinion on it.
