I'm pretty sure this is okay to do, if not, tell me otherwise...

Okay, I ripped 4 our of 8 of the blood splats from Half-Life 2 and threw them into a bullethole layout for FPSC. Not as good quality but better then the default stuff. I had to REALLY lighten the blood color to affix with the light-mapping issues that I think Lee has fixed, but I ain't sure.

Well, it works. License inside, and you MUST read it, or I'll be in deep [CRAP] with Valve.

Ripping media from games is indeed illegal, however no one responded this way when Bond1 made the Half Life 2 zombie for us...

That's very true - if this gets locked then there's a pretty big justice issue at hand.

I think it should be OK to use them for non-commercial, or private projects, like you could with bond's HL2 zombie.

yes redistributing of other game media is illegal and now that i think about it how did bond get away way with that model
maybe there is a loop hole in the law or something

Bond1 released the zombie for personal use only. If you use the blood splats in pesonal use only, you're no different to bond.

Just because someone did something in the past, doesn't mean it's ok to do it now. It only means that it should not have been done in the past.

When I was a little guy, I used to use that "He did it first" argument, but it never worked.

You would have been ok if you had just uploaded the screenshot (which looks good by the way) but distributing the media is a lockable offence.

Don't take the comments personally. It's cool seeing this kind of thing but to be fair TGC is a company, its their forums, their rules and we have to respect that. Its their reputation on the line after all.

I'm truely sorry about all the mess I've made. I only thought it would be fine becase Bond1 has released a zombie from the same game and i don't recall all of this happeneing.

And I also apologize for how damn long it took me to remove the dl because I had been at school.

Again, I'm sorry for the crap I've caused and mods, you may lock this or delete this as you please...

been saying it for months, double standard. same thing happened to me when i made the crowbar from half life 2 into a fpsc weapon... but its w/e atleast you took it down and havent recieved moderation

but you also got to realize you can get in serious trouble for ripping something that has copyrights
