Hello.
Im making a telephone booth that has see through glass, but dont know how to put it in fps-creator and have the transparency show-up so I can see through the glass!!

I can make the glass texture part almost see-thru in GIMP (which is what I want), then convert the texture from png to tga or dds (cause the png text doesn't work with fps). Yet when I make the model fps ready with the texture set to tga or dds it just wont cut-it.

Either shows up as though it didn't have a see-thru texture, or in the case of dds - doesn't show up at all.

Why??

Is there a right way to do this?????????

Anyone know? If so please respond.
Id be very appreciative.
Thanks.

Try making it a dynamic instead of static entity

PNG images do work with FPSC...
Save it as a .png, set it as the texture for the model in the editor, then set the transparency setting of the model to 1 or 2. Make sure the entity is dyanmic and it *should* work. FPSC will do the hard work of converting the png to .dds when you run the test game.

Will it make the whole model transparent or just the selected area transparent?

Sorry for being so impatient.
Its just that Ive been trying to do this for such a long time now. And Im using segment editor to try and make my own windows (frames, etc).

I just want to make a selected part of the model transparent. Like glass. But I have a very difficult time with using the seg-editor (if this is the right thing to use for jobs like this). Its not the easiest thing in the world to use Im finding. And to complicate things even further, the model must be such that you can walk in.

Heres some more.
TelephoneBooth Model:
I have made a telephonebooth model in AC3D and know how to do just about anything and everything else. Its just when it comes to applying the transparent textures is all and having the glass be transparent in FPS Creator! I dont want to change the properties in the properties thing. I want it to be a part of the model itself.
--------------------------------------------------------------

Experimenting with Segment Editor:
So I experimented further!
As a test, I copied the "window_b" model into AC3D (even with the texture. Just to see how easy it would be to duplicate the test in segment-editor. So I can then learn from it. Well, after three straight days of doing that I finally got the test "window model" to look right in FPS. And this was the same window that came out of the FPS Creator. So I learned the hard way.

But...
when I tried to design my own window (based on what I did above that finally worked, and changed the height and width only in ac3d. Put it into segment editor, then tried to use it in FPSC, the whole wall just disappears, pieces dont show up, texture doesn't show up, etc. (Hence my high frustration levels).

And, I made a smaller version of window_b (just changed the height and length) and it worked fine. Left the width of the frame and punch as it is. But then again - I did the same thing designing my own windows and it just don't work.
--------------------------------

TelephoneBooth again...
So, now, back to the "telephone booth with transparent glass". Ive tried the segment editor too. Then the entity maker. Tried Magic FPS, etc. But....ahhhh!! Sometimes the transparency shows thru, but then you cannot walk inside the booth.

Id like to make a model (like the telephone-booth mentioned at the start of this), and have see-thru glass and be able to walk inside. That's it. But Ive tried everything, everyway. And its getting weary!

So there it is. Now Im also wondering if theres a window "template" to help aleviate my window showing up problem (in addition to trying to make a static-model w/ dynamic see-thru glass.

PS:
Ive tried everything for soooo long now, that Im definitely "one confused puppy!" Im starting to "shy away" from making models foe use in FPSC, because some things about it the entire model making proccess just dont go my way. Sorry for being sooooooo "long-windid".
