I'd say about 6. The template works well in theory, but it looks a little faded and is very austere. A little more life breathed into it would work wonders. Also, I'm not to sure about some of the fonts...

But it looks like it's shaping up pretty well. Good luck with it. God knows you'll need it.

Also, s that a Serj Tankian avatar?

Id say a 2... Semi-decent layout of information but all in all its pretty bland and boring. Maybe with a bright white background with some extremely faded images overtop to bring some life to the back, and lightened boxes where the text goes, would make it pop a lot better. Along with a splash of colour somewhere, but you'd have to chose the colour carefully and stick with that colour for the entire site (like a nice deep orange or lime green would go well, with white and dark gray accents).

Then again in my and a lot of other people's opinions, fake "studios" and "production teams" are kind of lame as well. Not trying to be harsh, its just really, are you an actual studio, or a lone programmer trying to make it sound more professional?

well, he's not a real studio, but not a lone programmer, there are 3 members of IE/Cogwheel Games, Deathead, me and 5867Dude.

Your signature has been erased by a mod - 340 KB is a little big don't you think?

Not taking "for a first" into account, I believe that it deserves 1 or 2.

Here are some opinions:

. Using only grey is a common mistake between the beginners who enjoy "dark personality". Honestly, in my humble opinion, grey is neutral. There is no personality in the lack of colours and/or contrast unless you can play well with shapes. Forget the standards you know. Grey, black and white can make an elegant page, but they force you to add personality with other resources than colours;
. Avoid cliché techniques if they do not help on making your page originally beautiful: glass, reflections, lens flare , bevel.. These techniques are dangerous. If you do not use them correctly, your website will look very ugly or like it was made by a typical Power Point (eew) user (ugly);
. Avoid overused symbols: orbits, gears, balloons, lamps, electronic components, common tools.. Those are examples of overused symbols. They require a very nice work on colours and innovative shape synthesis to look unique.. and they still look cliché.

Here is a quick thing I made for you too see just what colours can do to a page's identity:

The only significant things I changed were colours and contrast. And it already makes a huge difference. That was a good practice for me. In the began obsessed by "dark and grey" too. It looks like a programmers' tendency. There are still many things that can make this site better, though. Have fun learning, and run away from standards. Create.

Cheers.

I'd have to give it a 1-2 as well sorry. Pretty much for the same reasons as the guys above.

>Too dark/dull
>No colour
>Too many gradients and black lines.

Practice makes perfect. Keep at it.

5Louiz's is better, deathhead's is to dark and blured. Needs a more "Web 2.0" feel like 5Louiz's.
