Well, working on my first custom work, I made a room segment. I made the texture and made the maps through CrazyBump. I made an .FPE for it and made sure all the maps were listed. I gave it the effect "bump.fx". And non of the maps seemed to work!!! Screenie attached, at least I can't see any of the maps...

I also have full shader effects enabled and my specs are below:

Nevermind, I figured out the problem.

I needed the effect to be bumpent, not bump.

well done for 'going ahead' and figuring it out.

Unfortunately you wont be able to produce the effect consistently on all surfaces of the segment but you'll have some fun with it.

Of course this has been addressed in X10 as they work how you expect them to. Therefore it's not something that I whine about on the forums anymore.

Attached is a pic which is as close as I got to it showing normal and specular mapping in effect on floor and walls.

However textures completely disappear if static light source introduced and rendered but unaffected by dynamic light sources. The FPSC X9 bump shaders use a pre determined light source so you only get a global amount of lighting across segments using them by changing the amount of ambient lighting. You can't currently light segments using the stock bump shaders at a per pixel level.

Here are my segment files.

Just extract the folder and copy 'SegBump' folder into

C:/Program Files/The Game Creators/FPS Creator/Files/Segments/User

Place a few in the map editor then add player start marker and no lights. Change ambient lighting <> to see global lighting change the effects intensity.

Then add a static light and re test. No textures
Add a dynamic light and re test. Textures with no lightmap

Oh well, theres always X10
