I think something is missing. The meteors must be gargantuan, being behind the planet and all. But for a first try, it's not half-bad.

Ok, here is version 3, from other people I was told that mars didnt look right, so I added more segments to it, and also I added a spaceship by whitefang's request, and I'll see what I can do about stars.

Looks like a good start.

Is that a Cinema 4D render?

No, its max.
I got a helping hand with some people's tutorials, thy've helped me alot getting started in max, and I hope to continue on making brilliant things like this, now time to learn how to use volumetric light properly.

You use max? Then you should have no trouble making stars. There's a built in feature for just that. Enter "video post" and press "add image filter event". Play around with that. Many fun effects in there, as well as one for your sun that will make it alot better.

Yes there are many fun effects, I'll go and add the stars now.
And my sun was basicly a light with flare added on, you go to modifyiers with a light selected, then down to effects, and then select lens effect, then you click on setup and add 3 rings and 3 streaks, well thats what I have done, all of them are diffrent size's and colour.

Well, let's see.

- the asteroids are of impossible size, seeing they're BEHIND the planet and yet that large. In this case, the planet would most likely be pulled into the asteroids by gravity, lol.
- Sun looks better now, although the light 'strokes' are a bit intrusive.
- Is that a spaceship? Light it up a bit, there's no way of telling whether its a ship or an odd-shaped asteroid.

I agree with Tatters, overcluttering is one of the biggest dangers in spaceart.

Just knocked this up in Photoshop.

This is a scale image of the distances and diameters of the earth and moon, to give you an idea of the way you should be working.

Each pixel is about 606.762km

uhm.... Actualy, WOW! Thanks for that,i'll figure that out in units and then apply it in the next version of it.

Also you're great at 2d artwork(sprite style artwork.).
Anyway when I have time I'll get started, and then I'll get finished.
