Hey, I'm stuck at an impass... I can't decide wether to get an Ipod (either video, touch, or the new mini-nano) or the Zune (either the new 16G, or the old 30G). Right now I'm leaning towards the Ipod Touch because of the online access and the capability to watch YouTube and other downloaded movies, but at the same time I've heard some pretty negative reviews. On the other hand the Zune looks pretty attractive and costs a lot less. The feature that I'm interested in the most is probably Video because I travel alot and like to take movies with me.
So in my time of need I decided to turn to those who probably know the most, my fellow geeks . If you have an opinion please post, I want to be as informed as possible before I make my desicion.

Thanks,
Radius

if you like the movies, I would guess that the touch would be better because the screen is bigger. if you want lots of stuff on it though, the HDD isn't very big.

Personally, I haven't necessarily used all of them but looking into it a bit myself, I liked the iPod Video/"Classic" the best. But I'm not going to watch movies on it, just listen to music.

I knew someone who had a Zune and straight up loved it to death.

iPod touch is awesome... most of the reviews I read for it criticised it for not having features from the iPhone... Well I already have a phone so it not having those features was irrelevant... As for it not having lots of space, i personally find 32gb plenty of space...

I've never used a Zune so I can't comment on it...

The new XNA 3.0 allows you to develop games on the Zune The iPod SDK allows you to develop games on the iPod Touch, but it requires a Mac. If I could go back in time I'd get a Zune instead of my Nano.

I have used a Zune before, and the iPOD is a lot better.

I've got a 30GB iPod Video, and it works really nicely, good for watching a movie on a long train trip to work, or music wherever/whenever. $200 off eBay as well, so I got it nice and cheap.

Battery life on the iPod video is great, and it charges really nicely as well - not to mention it interfaces easily with iTunes.

Game development on the Zune sounds pretty cool though.

Go for neither. The iPod is all about branding, and the Zune isn't exactly excellent value for money either.

I fail at life. No, really.

the ipod touch is fantastic - ive got the 16gig - and using youtube on it is great, but i like bbc's iplayer, when you got to the website on a touch u can watch the videos as if they were on ur ipod (with the exception that u need a wifi connection) its great for when uve missed something and want to catch up

a lot of people who havnt got one say about the music interface being pointless as you can scroll thru them on a classic; but when you get used to it you wont go back, its incredibly easy

imho its a fantastic little gadget - i always carry mine with me

amd athlon xp 2600+,1280mb,FX 5200 128mb,200gb & 120gb,xp pro sp2
