Anyone know a good site to get a good HTPC Case in the UK? Im looking for a silver one which will fit a Full ATX Motherboard.

If you look to sites that only deliver to America, then you can get a case from about £50, But look on a UK Site, they seem to go up to 150-200 minimum? is this just me or are we being ripped off?

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811112082

This was a very nice case, especially for a HTPC, because the psu blows out the front, it's less subject to overheating if it's stuck in a confined spot.

Also, it looks just really awesome under a tv

The ports in the front are easily accessible to plugin a keyboard/mouse in the front.

Of course, I have no idea what it costs in the UK, but I'm posting this to suggest that you look at just regular desktop cases as many of them make perfect HTPC cases.

Hurray for teh logd!

no full size ATX HTPC cases in the UK I looked everywhere for one best i could find was a MIDI tower turned on it's side or a desktop case.

for HTPC you really need to go microATX/uATX

The £100 to £200 cases incluse a laptop style powersupply and normally the whole case is a heatsink.

You could always use a 1U server case if you wanted something realy pizza box thin.

Nicest 1U case I ever saw was this.

I have thought about making my own case, maybe by Stripping out an old DVD Player, but i had problems locating a DVD Player which was tall anouth as they try to make them as thin as possable nowerdays.

I could rig it up for an Exernal Power Supply, and add an LCD Display on the front, But my Graphics and TV card would not fit.

yeah normally for a thin one you buy a nvidia motherboard with a descent onboard VGA or use a PCIe/PCi riser to turn the slot on it's side.

good point, i guess i could try using a Card Riser like this

this will cut the height down an inch or 2, this one above is for a PCIe x16 which i think would would fit my Graphics card, and this one is for a standard PCI which would fit my TV Card

I might go look at DVD and Freeview Cases again, check what sizes are available

If you go 1U you will need a low profile cooler and PSU too.

When u add it up you get close to £100-£200 of a dedicated HTPC case which normaly includes these parts.

Some also come with card readers and Windows Media Center remotes so you have get details of whats in the box and look at the total package cost.

OK, so now i'm definatley thinking of making my own case using an AVR147 Audio Receiver System.

I can get my hand on one of these for about £100, and i think it looks much better than a Premade HTPC Case, and i can refit the back Panel and Insides and Replace the Internal LCD Panel with a USB LED Panel, Will proberley cost between £200 to £250 in total, this is what im thinking of.

Be a project, but i think worth it for a reusable case like this, Also this is big anouth to have no problems with height/Size and will look perfect next to my TV, It would also be a Unique System.
