I was wondering if it was possible to make characters using ZBrush. If possible how would I import them into FPS? If not, what programs would you suggest?

Yes it's very much possible. Here is a contest that I entered that has a model that I made in ZBrush. It's the Green Creature. It was 5 Mil Poly in Zbrush that I dropped to about 1,300 or so.
The Game Creators Contest

Well after modeling it in Zbrush I would recommend Milkshape to export your models from .obj to .x.

How do you animate models after you have exported them or before you have exported? Plus what program do you use to animate them?

Well you would animate it before you export it to .x I never animated anything before that was complex, it was always very basic. So It's new to me too. This is my 4th day learning and I figured out how to do a pretty good skinning job.(I'm using Blender) But by the next week I will have a better understanding of animation.

Thanks Lazerus. Yeah they have some inventive models in that thread
