Well, you'll probably be confused if you haven't read the tutorials yet then. Are you doing TDK's Tuts from Tut 1?

You have not told us what you need help WITH.

The only advise I can give you is to read TDK's tutorials.

okay well here..i finished the tutorials. now im confused with like the whole making a game overall. how do i make the guns shoot? how do i make the guns? what code do i put to make the guns show up on my screen???!?!?! everything!!!! and i have no lcue how to make special effects into a code or how to make them whatsoever!!!!!! RAWR! i basically have no clue HOW to make the game. all i know is the basic stuff. how to make things on the screen by hitting PRINT "blah blah blah"...and like well yeah thats pretty much it...oh yeah and i know what variables are and how to use them. thats basically it.
i've checked all the tutorials and i've read everything i was supposed to on DB but nothing told me how to make the game or any of the things i listed above

Sorry, but there's no way you could complete half of my tutorials in just three and a half hours - without skipping sections!

It should take about that long for the first four intro tutorials - longer if you did the programming involved...

Don't forget that DB is a programming LANGUAGE, not a drag and drop game maker.

It's just like learning French. And you are expecting to have a conversation with a French person the same day you started? It just can't be done!

Why do you think you read the tutorials? To learn how to code.
It's not good to start off big... like a 3D shooting gun demo.

Anyways, you can't expect a gun model to magically appear before your eyes. You could probably Google "gun model," and you'll get a thousand results of free gun models.

If you want to make a game, read the tutorials, start off small with a basic 2D game (like a Pong clone), and you'll get better. Judging from what you've been saying, I don't think you actually read the tutorials; you probably skimmed through them.

You can't make a complete 3D shooter in 30 minutes, even if you are an experienced coder. It'll take time, and if you go through it slowly, you can be very successful. But don't get crazy now, everyone here was a beginner also, and was in the same frustration as you: anxiously wanting to make a game.

Ok, this is how I did TDK's tutorials. When I saw a command, I typed up a simple program that utilized it. So I can learn it in it's full potential. I would start in 2D then go to 3D, and IF you did do TDk's tutorials, you should know enough to answer 90% of your problems.

Go there and do them, read all the text, and do the examples, and not copy paste, type it up for yourself. Nothing will be handed to you.

There is a difference in us helping you and us doing everything for you.

thanks...and yeah i did knida skim through the tutorials...
but i have 2 questions:
1:when i am more experienced...does DB allow you to create games that arent just like te little demos that they provide you with??? because i bought this program expecting to make a game like something i would find in gamestop or something..like with cutscenes and multiple levels and stuff...can you do that with DB?

My other question is: on one of the tutorials that DB provides you with at the start screen tells you to type in something like "perform checklist for display modes" but when i do that nothing comes up. Any reason y that is happening?

This might answer your question...

All these games were all written with DB Classic:

oh yeah. and i have 1 more question.
Whats the purpose of getting the programs like AC3D and DarkVOICES and ExGen?? can you use the things you created in those programs in your DB games?????

nooo i mean like...at the home page of DarkBASIC..on top there are little tabs with things that say world building, game audio, graphics and stuff...so lets say i buy AC3D and i make a 2d object in it. cna i get that 3d object onto my DB game??

Also, what about my checklist problem??
and everyime i write "loop" it says "nesting error" then if i delete it, it says like error on a line that doesnt exist. (i.e i'll have 15 lines and it wil say "error on line 27"

you're basically saying "I've tried nothing and I'm all out of ideas"
learn from the tutorials and keep making stuff as you aquire more knowledge
it is a bit like learning another language but it's much more exciting as mastering each new command opens up many possibilities

to answer your PERFORM CHECKLIST question; nothing appears on screen because you haven't told it to.
Assume nothing
the computer will do exactly what you tell it to, nothing more, nothing less
this is hard to get used to as a noob because you expect intuition to link things together. Computers don't have intuition.
look at the tutorial more closely and im sure you'll see a print command

It is far better to complete a 10 line program than to start a 10,000 line program.

wow i hope i wasnt like this....or at least this bad, but frankie just read TDK's tutorials and you will be fine he is extremely helpful with just about anything you can think of related to darkbasic OBese87 can also help with things. i recommend starting out with a basic 3d pong game that is what i did, i think there is a tutorial for it somewere around here.

edit: well i couldnt find it but check out this stickie and it has just about everything you need to get going.

so you want to make games quickly. like mee in the start

ok. this is what i have learned so far
DarkBasic/DBC=programming only Wrigting codes to make a hole game/Aplication

2D Programm(Painting)=use std paint folows windows or somthing

3DSoftware=to create 100% your gunn,buldings,trees,and so on
try to wright 2D game text based or like snake,Pong,PackMan
then u will se that programming is pretty cool and funny if u wright a 30 line of code and it apears as a little game
