ok well theres a few things im not sure about in milkshape. firstly

1)how do you zoom in and out in one of the windows?? is it possible?? im pretty sure it is but im not certain. like if you have a left window can you zoom out?

2)what are backfaces?? i kinda know what they are but kinda not. if i have a model and i flat shade it i can see some white faces and some black. now when i export the model and load it into darkbasic, the black faces(which i suspect are backfaces)are no longer there! you can see straight throught where the black faces used to be. what are backfaces and how can i solve this problem?

if you can answer these q's your a legend!

I think you mean just regular zoom in Q1. You can just use the mousewheel when the mouse is in that window. I don't know the keyboard shortcut for it tho. Check the help file.

Q2 Backfaces are simply the back side of the triangle. If you put the model in flat-shaded and the face is black and not supposed to be, select it then go to the face menu and then reverse vertex order. This will flip it to face the right direction so that when you export, it won't be missing or need cull on.

zooming ... either 1) mouse scroll wheel or without selection on, press shift+lmb (if i remember right, might be ctrl or alt)

backfaces are faces which face away from the current cameras point of view, its like if you put the palm of your hand infront of you, you can't see the back of it and that'd be the backface of the hand

to create a forward face in milkshape place down 3 vertex and then use the face tool and click on them in an anti/counter-clockwise motion ... for a back face click on them in a clockwise motion.

e.g

if you made them like that a front face would be
1,2,3,1 and a back would be 1,3,2,1

Is there anyway to split groups into smaller groups? As far as I'm aware you can only set one texture per group, and Lithunwrap doesn't really seem to understand any exports of Milkshape so I need to texture within Milkshape.

Thanks

Lol LithiumUnwrap supports MS3D You could do this by selecting a few faces, duplicating them, then deleting the old ones. Select the new ones and RE-GROUP them.

I've tried to export Milkshape into various formats (Including leaving it as a native .ms3d file) and then opening it in Lithunwrap, but it only seems to load a net as a single face. Now my models aren't very complex but I know they have mmore than one face.

I've loaded other objects created with other editors and it works fine, so I've probably made a mistake in the Milkshape export prefrences or something.

Thanks
