So I was wondering if there was any free screen capture software out there that you guys could recommend? Maybe that would include the ability to have it only take a picture every 5 seconds or so and compile it into a video, or record audio along with your recording video. Thanks.

Fraps is good, although at about 30FPS recording you'll get a 2GB video, after a 5 minute recording session. I use the Youtube -> iPod converter (which is free) to convert the Fraps video to a MP4, which brings the size from about 2GB to 10MB.

I use the registered Fraps, it's well worth the money, although free Fraps is still good, but a bit slower, and with a small watermark.

if you just want a screenshot, (A still image) just press the "Print Scrn" button. then go into an image editor, like paint or photoshop, create a new document and click edit>paste. That will paste a shot of what your screen looked like when you pressed the Print scrn.

P.S> Print Scrn is right next to the "scroll lock" and "Pause|Break" buttons.

Some software allows you to turn your entire screen into a webcam. Use that, a GlovePIE script to press a certain button on an interval, and Stop Motion Animator. That way, you could make GlovePIE tell SMA to take a screenshot every five seconds.
