On my AMD 64 X2 5500 one core is showing 59 degree's F and the other is 80.6 degree's shouldn't they both be near the same temp? or is this a common thing that happens alot? my GFX card is also showing a temp of 122 degree's is that acceptable? Geforce 8800GT 512mb

Odd... my 6000+ Gives me 39 Degree's(Celsius) on both... I guess the second one is used by more programs at the same time?

The OS sometimes just randomly picks a Core to use as the main one, which is kindof silly... But I guess that kindof explains why its hotter then the other one.

Perhaps there is a single intensive thread running that is heating up one of the cores.

After more investigation benjamin the system idle is at 98% and the second core still is about 10C higher then the first core, although not making much of a difference in the heat i think it might be the stock heat sink and fan but have no way of testing it.

no problem

try out CoreTemp, it takes accurate readings from the on-die component on the chip, at least it does with Intel cpu's.
