Can dbp even support avi's?
I don't think it can.
Hmmmm, I love to find one, but I'm not sure about using it with db/dbp.
(plugins anyone?)

well matt if you wanna do that you have to make an animation with your models in a 3d program then export to an avi that is really the only way you can do it.

You could make a very primative program in db. Get the animation how you want it and get it to save a bmp of the screen. It won't save the bmp fast enough to run in real time so your will need a method to save the images at the correct points in the animation to match your video fps.
Then just assemble all the bmp files in a program like virtualdub(free) or a proper video editor and save to avi.

The speed doesn't matter if you have a method to save a frame when it would have been saved if the animation was running at full speed.

If you want a 15fps avi you need to find out every point in the animation that a frame will be saved (15 times a second) then play the animation again saving the bmp at the correct points.
It would be a fair bit of effort and quite difficult.

Have you tried truespace 3.2? Free from here.
