Hi all im currently having a mess around with DBpro trial but i cant get the music command to work.

im sure i am using it right, its in mp3 format and the music file is located in the project folder btw.

it gives me the error message runtime error 3502 cannot load from line 6

REM
REM ***** Main Source File *****
REM
load music "music.mp3",1
play music 1
print "playing music 1. press a key to end"
wait key

Is this an issue with it being a trial version?

Load Music is intended for MIDI (.MID) music files. MP3's, are effectively compressed and renamed .WAV files so use Load Sound instead.

Make sure that the music file is in the same directory as the project, otherwise you have to specify the path.

Ok i dunno whats goin gon,

i got it to work, only by renaming the file(removed the extension part)

renamed from music.mp3 to music
changed the code to suit and it now works. does it dislike extensions being part of the filename?

later on it decided to give up again i had to quit out and reload the program where it decided to work.

very strange indeed!

this got it working although theres no reason why it should be any differnt? does DBP not like extensions as part of file names?

also after a few plays it decided to give up again, same error etc, quitting out and restarting seemed to fix it. although this seems very strange indeed.....

Is mp3 different in DBC and DBP?

It's confusing because it's different between versions.

Older versions of DBC would only play MP3s if they were loaded with Load Sound - in the same way you would load a WAV file. (The DBC help files still say that Load Music is for MIDI files and Load Sound is for MP3s).

Since V1.13 though you can play an MP3 using Load Sound or Load Music, but as I had got used to using Load Sound I hadn't noticed the change.

In DBPro I guess TGC just removed the MP3 support for MP3s in Load Sound completely.
