ok chunks i started our thread for making this game

here is a screen shot and a demo of driving the boat...lol







and here is a download to showcase our hero boat and how nice the graphics will be

(This is not a scene from the game but the boat is and media will be)

cool nice shot did ya do that in 3ds ive exported all the models in 3ds for you .

Ive been searching for an ai system i can wrap for the chasing and enemy boat control preferably one thats free , although i did see a path finding dll on here somewhere ,i don`t think im quite clever enough to write my own lol.

Should we use nuclear glory for collision? Do you have that plugin?

Or do you know of a better collision system?

Maby we should just use darkbasic with no plugins.

I can write a collision ruitine. Our you good with darkbasics collision system?

Also im thinking of making the level editor tile based? What do you think?

Hey chunks did you try the short exe file thats with the shot?

That was from my grave yard of unfinished projects...lol

I do like how the sky clouds are reflected in the water and you can see them moving slowely.

That water system i animated and consists of 2 layers.

One layer is reflective serface and the second layer is a ghosted animated water

It wouldn`t work says display using 16 bit not supported with this hardware .

depend what res my laptop only works with 640x480 1024x768 1280x800 32 bit .

is nuclear glory free and how easy is it to use .

I know sparky collision dll is supposed to be good , but never actually used it.

i haven`t done a great deal of 3d programming but when i did i just used the dbpro commands.


do ya mean a tiled matrix , trouble is with them there mighty slow especially when youve got layers .

see what you can come up with.

just done a test with dbp own collision commands it seems to register hits before the objects are actually touching, with that in mind we will probably need to use a third party dll ,also we`ll need sliding collison for the ramps and such like .

I`ll do a bit of digging and testing see if a can get a good system

cool that sounds good will you be able to make the complex shapes of the river.

I will have to buy the ng collision plugin has it got sliding collision we`ll need that for the edges of the banks .

i will also buy dark ai or find somthing for the ai ,i want it to be the best, the thing is there is no demo.

could you repost the demo above so it supports my comp please.

also will you have a look at this chasing algo , need to make it better .

just trying to program all the little control bits.

Super! Runs very smooth at 33fps on my oldish machine. Collision is solid, controls intuitive, graphics nice . It'd be cool if you had some wake/spray effects for the boat, and the handling had a bit more inertia.

ok since tha_rami is a little sad his pacman game got moved back several pages since we started this wip ... we will just post downloads for now on

Jeez, SMB, relax. Act like Chunks Chunks, read the rules and stop acting as if I'm a little kid vying for attention - the Little Arcade Pack is a mini-project of mine. It's quality projects like Soulhunter, Milk Paton, TGC Heroes and Pirates of Port Royale that get dropped because of your 'chatting' here. This is a WIP section, not a chatbox. But sure, if you want to act 'insulted', be my guest and go spam the MSN boards - I couldn't care less.

It would be sad, however, to see chunk chunk's project get flamed, or worse, locked, because of your behaviour.

lol smd not smb....and actualy its a project that me and chunks are working on together. Haha...i dont even know what projects you have or are even working on...lol. And i dont expect this one to be that best.

Anyways yes we will cut down on the posts to stricktly downloads or screenshots.

I havent read the rules myself and maby me and chunks got away with soo many dang posts on the music forums with our music program we designed......cause nobody cared there.

I recommend you save yourself some money and stick with DBP Collision DLL v2.0. It has never let me down.

anyway here`s a model update made the boat better + i did a log for the upstream level .

Well, that looks kind of nice. You might consider adding some foam at the bottom of the waterfalls.

Update :

i`ve added some physics to the boat with dark phy.

jumping over ramps

still need to make the boat control better ,getting there though

a small demo for peeps to drive the boat round --->
sheldons still working on the maps i think lol.
