What the umph is up with my computer? Every time I download something, I try to extract it with WinRar, or 7-zip, it always gives me some garbage that the file may be corrupt. Duh!

The other strange thing that is happening is that when I am downloading something, when it is halfway finished downloading, it says: Download complete.

It is seriously screwy and very annoying. Can anyone help?

You probably have an unstable connection or a very bad downloads manager, or you are just unlucky. Download a decent downloads manager that can resume tasks even if the connection is interrupted. There is "DownloadThemAll" for Firefox, for example. Also, try to download one of these problematic files alone. Do not do anything else while you download it.

I had that problem with my dialup connection, and since TGC servers don't support resuming a download my only way was to find someone kind enough to upload the files to a different server.

That should be in the tech support manual for every internet question ever asked.

"Hello, how may I help you?" (Indian accent)
"Yeah, my internet sucks. The webpages load slow, my bookmarks get deleted, rosy o'donald keeps popping up with these annoying popups and my computer desktop got carpet bombed with viruses. What should I do?"
"Are you using IE?"
"Yes."
"Fail. That's why, go uninstall IE this moment and download Firefox. In fact, never whisper the words IE again. It's bad mojo."
"Oh thank you sir! My computer runs like hot, unadulterated *** now!"
"Your welcome, I accept cash donations."

It's early, and I'm bored

Too bad you cant uninstall IE without risking windows crashing. I just removed it from my start menu completely. However it does get to very annoying when websites restrict use to only IE, I mean come on!

Surely Ben you are wise enough to understand why we're all fanboys of Firefox. Especially if you've ever done any web development with CSS.

Doesn't change the fact that you are fanatical... fanboys.

Oh dear...

Well I suppose I'm an FF of FF - especially FF3, it's so quick on my remarkably low spec laptop, FF2 had slow downs, other browsers were worse. (Especially Safari and Opera)

If FF was a woman I'd marry her...I mean...No, I can't do it, I can't bring myself to make a pun, especially when it's that bad.

Shows that not all off shore call centres are useless, for a start he was polite and knew what he was talking about - I've never heard of that happening before, perhaps this hypothetical computer company trained their staff properly. Though I'd be worried if the person on the other end was Glaswegian -

"Hello, is this..."
