I'm not talking about the videos; yes you innevitably have to wade through tons of crap to find something worth watching, but that's the nature of the beast.
I'm talking about the technical side of the site: half the time links are broken for no apparent reason, when i replay a video the duration display doesn't, and the real kick in the teeth is that it lets you type out a whole post before telling you that you've exceeded the comment limit! and even when you type in the security characters it tells you that you got it wrong and makes you do it again!

Why does such a huge site have these errors?
Tell me I'm not the only one getting annoyed by this.

I've never had those issues. Though I rarely comment on vids so I've never hit the comment size limit before.

Whenever I am writing comments it tells me exactly how many characters I have left, so I've never run into that problem either.

I always have problems watching youtube videos while running ubuntu/firefox for some reason, they always load slower and frequently try to end before the video should be done playing. I've never had any problems besides that, however, and it works fine in windows.

I only find one thing annoying about youtube on the technical side. That would be the bug that comments tend to disappear if someone replies to them. It's annoying since I get an e-mail from youtube saying "blablabla replied to your comment on blablabla", and when I open the link to the video, there's no comments by me on that video, altough I blatantly remember putting down one.

Other than that, the annoying thing would probably be the users and their special grammar. Yesterday, I saw a five-word comment, with six errors in it. It hurts my brain trying to understand some people on youtube.

Oh. Well, still, that problem never occurs with me. If I try to post a comment after exceeding my limit it'll show the message before I even start typing it out.

The way I see it is YouTube is free, so there's no right to complain about downtime, crap videos, or features that aren't quite working. Just imagine the server farm they have to keep running to host all those videos.

From what I understand, YouTube is now owned by Google, so the way I see it, such a big company should try to fix those problems or else people may go to one of those "other" less-popular YouTube styled sites. However, I do s'pose it's free.

The only thing I don't like about YouTube is how so many people think it's such a big "technological development" and how it was the "first" video site, both of which are completely untrue! THAT's what I don't like about it. :/ It really annoys me when people seem to think YouTube is so advanced. While it may be a good site, it's not that advanced in terms of technology. Sure, there's a lot going on with YouTube, but it's not something that's actually advanced technology, like 3D graphics or some form of 1GB/second internet connection. :/

Oh well, it's not worth arguing with people over. :/

Anyways, I've never had any of those problems at YouTube, YouTube's always been "nice" to me, except when I try to upload a 30MB video, then it slaps me in the face and says "No!" lol.

Cheers,

-naota

yes it's free but they make money through advertising, just because we don't pay doesn't mean standards should be lowered.
Thats like ITV (free UK TV channel) not bothering to make programs because they don't take subscription fees.
It's in their interest to make a good site.

What I dislike are the IDIOTS of Youtube. God. Almost every comment is filled with stupidity, bad grammar, insults, more cursing than a bad book about warlocks(random???) and illogical nonsense. These people make me ashamed to be called "human"....

Um, YouTube is in the top 10 (or maybe 5?) most visited sites on the entire Internet. They don't have to worry about little problems as they go. Look at MySpace, which is riddled with problems and yet it's the #1 social networking site.

I agree with Jake (Muhahahah!) here. It's a free service and you have no guarantee of service or features. The site is as is. Take it or leave it.

Aye, i find it enjoyable, watching the featured stuff like in the animation or comedy sections.

Although lately their "featured" videos are pretty crap in those sections.

Agreed. The way videos never seem to cache also annoys me.

Thats how they made it. It use 2 cache but something to do with ppl stealing vids from the cache made them stop caching the vids.

IE will ensure the video caches, then you use NirSoft's VideoCacheView to retrieve the video from IE's cache (Doesn't work on Firefox). You then convert your .FLV file with some FLV converter off the internet (I call the one I have "Batch FLV", but I'm pretty sure that's not what it's really called).
