Ok, where to begin....

The Theory

The American Dream is set in the 1960s, more specifically, midway through the Vietnam War.

You - the player - are an average white American kid (I'll explain why in a moment). You live in Harlem, the Afro-American district of New York City. You have to make your own lie in Harlem, getting invloved in all kinds of dirty work, such as messages, courier etc. You may think that these jobs don't sound dirty, but guess what the cargo/topic is? Heroin.

Heroin was illegally brought back from Vietnam, using a new method which was cheaper and quicker than before. This new method involved the buying the dope straight from the farms, then transporting them back to the States in the caskets of dead US soldiers (if you've seen American Gangster, you'll probably recognise this).

As the story progresses, you will be involved in gang wars, drug trades, burglary, extortion, pimping and corruption. You will advance up the 20th Century hierarchy using whatever it takes, bringing down whoever you must. You will become one of the biggest drug barons in the city

Im afraid that just came from the top of my head, so it wasnt exactly great!

Progress

So far, I have done a bit of programming, with about one fifth of the map in the program. All I have at the moment is the player walking around, and me slowly building the map. Attached is one of the screenshots, and I will post another straight after this.

The Team

As of yet, I am a one man team, doing the programming, modelling and level creation. Anyone who would be interested in helping with this game would be welcomed with open arms. The positions I need filled are modellers, texture artists and a good DBP programmer.

Thanks for reading, and I hope you will approve.

it looks great, sounds like a good story, too. You will definatly want to buy DBPro though, as you won't finish it before the trial runs out.

Your signature has been erased by a mod - 340 KB is a little big don't you think?

It does sound intriguing!

I suggest you raise the camera a little, to give a better 3rd person view.

I'm not actually a Kiwi, I just randomly thought it up one day.

Ye, I got the camera code from somewhere, though I now cant remember were. Ive been trying to find a better one, which lets the player swing the cameras around the character with the character actually moving. So something a bit like Assassins Creed.

I am in the process of buying the actual program at the momen, btw!
