I am about to buy a DarkBASIC book to help me get back into game programming. A little background on myself is that I have been away from game dev for a long time (several years) and I was not that good to start with. My code was a mess, and mostly was made up of "clever code" since I did not know the correct ways. Well, since then, I have studied Visual Basic, C#, C++ and ASP.NET a bit. I would not call myself profoundly proficient with any of those, although I know the core of all of them. I know about iterating arrays, using advanced decision making, basic OOP (although I know that DBPro is not OO), etc. to give you an idea of where I am at. What I was wondering, though, is which of these two books do people (who have at least seen both of them) think would be better for me?

DarkBASIC Pro, 2nd edition

or...

Hands on DarkBASIC Pro Vol.1

The Pros to the former is that it is less than half the price (although I have it to spend) and of the latter would be the fact that it follows up with Vol. 2.

Any ideas?
