Just watched the movie Eraser with Arnold Schwarzenegger. There's a scene where someone shoots the keypad of a vault door with a shotgun and the door opens. LOL

Great to see hi-tech equipment defeated by something invented in the 12th century.

Lmao, a shotgun in the 12th century.

Try somewhere closer to the 19th century. You could stretch it a bit and say the 18th century but those guns weren't really shotguns, they merely had a similar firing pattern and usage.

Admittedly I'm more of a pop-culture person than
a historian. I was just going for firearms in general.

Well, don't you think that comparing a shotgun with a bow and arrow would be right up there with comparing the keypad to levers used in ancient temples or castles?

I can see it now:

Man runs desperately through a forbidden tomb, with guards right behind him. Up ahead he sees a closed door, which is his only way out! He immediately whips out his bow and arrow and shoots the lever by the door, forcing it open for him! HE ESCAPES!!!

HURRAYYYYY!!!!

I didn't compare them. I actually got mixed up with my centuries. I knew there were guns in the 1300's, so I should have said 14th century. I went back one when I should have moved forward one.

Neither handgun, shotgun, nor bow & arrow would do that. Yet it's one of Hollywood's favorite stunts.

Now if there were a lever. That indeed is a different story!

I just watched that too, LMAO at the railguns. That seeking technology on any hand-held weapon would be amazing Isn't it an oldie though?

Yeah. The irony was that I like the TV going when I'm working on my game, and when the movie came on I was trying to select a good weapon for my main character.

I really wish we a bigger variety of scifi weapons. I've got my hands full trying to model my characters. It'll be forever before I get time to learn how to make weapons. Maybe I can hire Errant when he gets back!
