So I am trying to put a simple set of photos on to my Ipod Nano and the stupid thing wont let me look at them. When I go to the photos sub menu in the Ipod it just lets me look at settings of sideshows. now I used to have a couple photos on my Ipod but I took em off.

So what I do is, goto the photos tab in Itunes, then I sync the folder with the photos I want in it. It says its optimizing them and such, but when I try to look at em, nothing. Any one else come across this annoying problem or knows a way to fix it?

Weird, with my iPod video it just automatically syncs all the photos in the "Pictures" folder on my hard drive straight onto the iPod, and they display perfectly fine.

I suppose you could try re-installing your iPod firmware, something might have gone wrong with it.

Ah, so you overpaid for an MP3 player that doesn't work as advertised?

Of course it won't work right, it's an apple product.

I have learned from experience that an Apple Ipod is not overpriced when compared to all the other inferior junk out there (I once thought as you did muahhaahah). In fact Ipod is just about the best value.

I'm not an Apple fan. I'm a fan of the Ipod. The only modern piece of equipment I've ever used from Apple.

EDIT:

Total shot in the dark here but have you tried formatting the Ipod? (after backing everything up that's on it of course)
I'm not responsible if you lose your stuff!

I agree... My original iPod which is about 3 years old now still works like a charm (although it is now relegated to the car as I've upgraded to an iPod Touch) while my friend has been through 3 different types of mp3 players and is now on his 4th... Individually cheaper but add them up and it's cost him more than if he'd bought the same original iPod as myself...

Same here. It's the only Apple equipment I've ever owned...

I didn't like the iPod. The original one is too bulky, the Nano version is nice, and the Shuffle is horrible. Now, I've been using a Packard Bell MP3 player (Packard Bell for whatever's sake) for over 2 years. It has a nice display, looks stylish, plays 2GB of MP3 and has a battery that can last 2 full days non-stop, rechargable through USB. No iTunes, no hassle, just drag and drop. It's the only, and let me reaffirm that, the only Packard Bell product I've ever truly loved in my life. I think it is called the AudioKey Max. Tiny, fast, no-nonsense.

Heck, for photo's I have my camera, and for calling my mobile phone. For anything more than that, I plan to buy an Acer Aspire One by the end of the year. Thing sounds like an absolute top-class product for its price with 6-7 hours of battery life. You know what I hate about those 'all-in-one' portables? If the battery runs out, you're completely out.

Never understood the iPod thing. I guess its a cool and easy gadget. I do like the iPod Touch version, by the way. Those things are the little gadgets I'd love to have.

It seems sometimes other Mp3s can be false economy - I've not had an iPod break on me - though I did have a problem which turned out to be my headphones (iPods stop playing when you take the headphones out, the headphones for some reason activated that feature - but when I plugged in different ones, worked perfectly) if you ever get a software problem, apple provides the program to fix it and have enough documentation in the trouble shooting.

The only iPods I've seen broken are, when my Dad replaced the battery on an old Mini (after being dropped too many times the batter had a faulty connection) and it wasn't put in properly, so it overheated and he threw it into a bucket of water and when my brother dropped his idiotically into his cup of tea.

So for this problem, there might be solutions around, it sounds like it's software related, so perhaps a reinstallation of iTunes or/and an iPod software restore.

But not to say other MP3s aren't stable and don't last - it's just I've always trusted apple products and feel piece of mind in their products and it's not as if I buy a new one everytime they're updated.

YOu can use the Winamp media library with the iPod. It's excellent. Another thing I love about the iPod is stuff transfers back and forth really really fast. I also love having 80 gigs of space. I was able to watch movies on 8 hour road trips and fun stuff like that. It was great. Definitely worth every penny to me.

I love my Nano 8GB--- but I definitely agree with what David Lynch had to say about watching movies on an iPod:
