Note: This game is just 5 minutes long. Use the arrow keys to move. That is it.

PUT SPOILERS IN CODE TAGS PLEASE!

I've heard this game hawked on various podcasts as "art-house". Many people I've read about have had an emotional response to this game, even causing them to cry. Maybe I'm a bit sensitive as I definitely had a reaction to the game, and I made my wife play through it as well and just made her sad for the rest of the night.

Go ahead and play it with the sound up. Enjoy

Wow, i was actually quite impressed. I do like the subtle things like
.
It really was quite emotional, i can't see me crying from it but i can understand why the rest did. I tied it into a lot of my own experiences as well.
I definately am inspired.

Cheers Jeku.

EDIT: Digging the music aswell.

Well I thought it was quite clever, but maybe I'm too
to understand it enough to find it thought provoking.

I consider myself sensitive, but that didn't tickle my emotive side at all.

Is this running correctly on my PC? I saw something about some people getting blurry pixels. It took me a while to figure out what was going on. It's kind of hard to explain what it looks like, but are there are screenshots anywhere of what it should look like?

I think the graphics are like that deliberately so that your using your own imagination more than going by what you can see. I mean what balding man can't sympathize when that hair pixel fades out to nothing!. I suppose it's kinda like a book as opposed to a film - characters in films are just actors, characters in books are fleshed out with our own reasoning and experiences. If the characters in that little game were any more than a few pixels thrown together then we'd loose any connection with them, I think.

Most of my favorite game characters are badly drawn 16x16 sprites .

I'm not saying pixelated 8bit graphics cant work well for this type of thing, just that this particular set of graphics made my eyes burn. Also the bizarre warping at the edges of the screen were annoying.

Not bad.

I think thats supposed to mean
. Could also mean the programmer couldn't code it properly and is good to weave in a bit of mystery...

Ah found something that explained it better:-

BTW, the last line of his explanation is pretty sweet and touching (don't click this if you want to avoid spoilers):-

Well I scanned it and got nothing, with updated NOD32. If you already have a virus on your computer it could attach itself to downloads.

I find it more emotional reading about the game's metaphors than actually playing it. Although I did miss most of the metaphors on the first playthrough. I found it annoying that the woman stopped me navigating tough areas, but I didn't catch on to the metaphor. I just thought it was dodgy gameplay.

If it feels good, it's a sin.

I don't think it's working properly for me. I'm getting a narrow screen with corrupt looking graphics.

Edit: ok seems it's supposed to look like that. I played it twice and didn't get any emotion from it. Boring and rubbish, I know that sounds harsh and respect to whoever made it but that's what I thought. If anything it's the depressing music that would cause any emotion.

Sounds like it's working fine, unless that was sarcasm.

And I agree with draknir_, the game Chris K posted was more interesting, even if it didn't affect me as much.
