Because the forum is an archive of information, not just "for the moment". One user cannot determine that a post has exceeded it's useful life.

Personally, I love the rule. Don't make silly threads and there won't be a need for deleting it .

I love the rule too. Then we couldn't look back on wonderful moments such as "I hate book" because the creator of it would have it deleted.

No, these features are there for a reason, whether it's apparent or not. It's probably why we have such a crap-free and content safe forum right now.

There's nothing stopping you from starting your own forum if you think removing or adding certain features would make it better. Just don't go advertising it here
