I've seen a few threads in the past about DBPro being annoying and buggy to work with and back then, i could never understand what they meant. After working on a project for a solid three months using DBPro i began to understand what they meant(the project span over 6-7 months but the coding time was about half of that). For the most part it was my shabby coding and not fully understanding how i should manage my processes within the language. But coming across awkward bugs of which i had no idea how to fix or go around really got on my norks. The overall speed of the program (compared to other languages such as Lite-C and Purebasic(yes, liteC is understandable).) really let me down.
Saying this however, after completing my project and realising what relatively little coding i had to do, how much i knew about programming in general before starting it and what i'd acheived at the end, i was quite amazed. I was genuinely pleased about how everything had turned out considering if i had used any other more complicated language it probably would have took me double, nay, triple the time it did. Sure i came to some problems along the way that caused me to change certain features, or cut some corners but overall it was a relatively painless process.
Maybe i'm contradicting myself a bit too much and maybe there was no need to even post this however it was just a quick post to express my gratitude to the makers of a fantastic product. I'm moving onto more complicated programming languages now and this is all thanks to DBPro. It will stay on my harddrive for quick prototyping of game concepts as its easy and flexible enough for those days off work when i get time to program for extended periods of time.
Like i said, maybe i'm contradicting myself, but i'd like to open this up for discussion on your experiences with this language.
Cheers
