well, i had my crisis game running nicely, then i accedently downloaded the wrong driver for my computer, i needed a nvidia 6 upgrade, and i downloaded nvidia 9.obviously this really screwed up the game, but since some driver functions are universal my computer was working fine, the game was not, infact it looked like my moniter was cracked when running the game, whith funky fragments and colors every where... i thought it was the game, so i uninstalled it because i thought it was broken. soon i figured out i updated my driver wrong and fixed that, but now Crisis is uninstalled and i lost my cd key. i looked all over the house for that manual, but it's nowhere to be found. i knew windows had to keep the key some where because windows always has stuff backed up. so i google search it and figured out i can use the registry to find the product key. so i did it, and it looks like i found the product key, but it is giving me 16 digits, and i need 20 to activate it. any one know what im doing wrong? and please dont tell me how much you love/hate crisis, i just want to know what im doing wrong.

well, I dont know if windows would keep the whole key. Best thing to do you be to contact the company and see if they can give you a new key.

i have. since my i am out of the 90 day warranty i have to send my disk, case, and 10$. i also have to fill out a bunch of paper work for it. if there is no easyer way then i will do it but all the other websites say the product key should be in that registry.

Well there are other ways, but they are slightly frowned upon. However its all up to you, I would go the frowny way if I just could not find the thing, I always loose those too.

Great hint there.

Most keys that are stored in the registry are encrypted, so even if you do find it then it would be nearly impossible to work out what it was. Just go with the legal way, 10$ is nothing compared to buying a new copy of crysis.

It's not really anything morally wrong with that since you already payed for the thing. It's like downloading roms. As long as you own the original cartridge, I don't see anything wrong with that. Of course, maybe some would disagree with that, but I would blatantly disagree with them in return.

Back in the past somewhere, my half-life key was stolen at a LAN party. This was before I used it on counter strike. So later when I tried to use my key on CS, I got a message that it's not an original, or it's already used. I could not use my supposedly original key anylonger. Hmmmm, I wonder....

Question: Would it be wrong to "find" another one?

Though be careful with the frowny thing, there are viruses on those places. I did it once when I lost my CD key, and got a trojan.

ya, i want to stay away from the frowny way, i would rather not download those key cracks and any thing like it, i dont want viruses and there has to be an easier way. i saw one person said depending on the store you got it from, they may just give you another. but i dont have a receipt, and i got it from best buy. best buy has horrible customer service for the most part as well, so im just exploring options right now.

i would pay the ten bucks for a new key if there was no paper work. and theres the mailing, i hate US mail.
