Hi all,
I recently found out I had rca outputs on the back of my digital cable box, so ive run a cat5 cable from my room to where the cable box is, and then spliced on rca connectors on each end. So, it works, but at one cost...the box is in the other room, so controlling it is impossible without getting up and changing the channel in there.
But, as it turns out, the box has a USB port, which can take keyboard output and use that to change channels. So, obviously, id use a keyboard to talk to it, the only problem: wayyyy past the max usb length. So my solution is to emulate keyboard output from the computer very close to the cable box, and then talk to the emulation program over my home network. But is it possible to emulate keyboard output over usb?
