Now I'm gonna brag about what I just ordered: Yeah baby yeah, that thing in the Topic title

Now it does all this swishy stuff, it's touchscreen, plays music and video in every codec imaginable, reads PDFs, records from the TV, huge memory space, and it's got Wireless Internet browsing so I can post @ TGC all day long

Now anyway. it does this thingy called UPnP, so I can theoretically stream movies and sounds from my PC straight onto the Archos in the other room.

Yes, all good, but the only problem is that the actual PC with the Wireless hub is the Mac with no music or sound on, and I don't intend to put any on either. All my media is on the Windows PC downstairs. Now that just has a little Belkin Wireless USB Dongle wongle.

So I guess I won't be able to connect to it if it just has a dongle? Or could I go through the router? Or , uh, I'm a retard when it comes to stuff like this. Look at me, I've just been bragging about what a cool gadget I have and now I'm bragging about my superior lack of knowledge

Well, you'll need to setup a network so that your gadget goes through your wireless router to your downstairs computer.

That shouldn't be a problem. Look up networking articles on google.

I bought mine in the UK from Amazon for £140 - about $280. The model Jimmy's shown is the 160GB beast, however I bought the 30GB one so it'll be a little cheaper. I also suspect prices will probably be lower in America.

The reviews seem to be all over the place - loads of 5 stars (and 4 stars, and 3 stars, and 2, and 1!). But I think one the whole the Archos 605 is a better buy than the iPod for it's money's worth.
