Just wondering if anyone's used it and what they thought of it, basically, is it any good?

It's awful pricy, but it looks like it has some nice features. Although I didn't explore very much, I can tell it's pretty new, and still growing. So it's almost a gamble, if you're thinking about buying it.I'll have to look into it further though.

Yeah, $17000 is just a tad bit much for me so I'm personally not thinking of buying it but someone else who was asked me about it. However, I'd never even heard of it so in turn I decided to ask around myself lol.

too bloody expensive and around 1/4 of the features of Softimage...
athough it is an all-in-one studio, personally i find how its setup is just awekard as hell (and this is comming from a Maya/Softimage user!)

i'd suggest grabbing yourself SoftimageXSI Exp from thier website instead, especially as almost every major release over the next year for the PC will be using it.

HL2 would be one of the main ones... so just like people wanted to to make models for UT2K3 they grabbed MayaPLE you'll want XSI-Exp for the new wave

my advice about Houdini is avoid it like the plague unless you have a job that needs it

Really? Softimage? Didn't think it was too popular among commercial games.

LMAO... are you kidding? Softimage is THE tool of the moment.
mostly because of its non-linear animation, free Behaviour 1.1 which gives outstanding scene animation, the ability to use Renderman & Arnold ... its truely outstanding.

i still prefer to use max & maya over it, cause i just can't get the hang of the controls (been using Max too long ) but it is a fantastic program that is being used in almost every major games production right now.
and for Mod developers its going to end up being a required skill.
