From http://www.etonline.com/news/2008/06/62841/index.html

Comedian George Carlin has died from heart failure. The man who made famous the "seven words you can never say on television" passed away at 5:55 p.m. Sunday at Saint John's Hospital in Santa Monica, his longtime publicist said. He was 71.

Carlin, who has had several heart attacks and a history of cardiac issues, went into the hospital this afternoon after complaining of heart problems.

Carlin has more than 20 comedy albums, 14 HBO specials, numerous TV and movie roles, and three best-selling books to his credit. Last year, he celebrated his 50th year in show business, and he had just finished his last HBO special in March, "It's Bad for Ya."

--

He was among my favorite comedians, and one of the most influential of the past half century. Just thought you all would like to know and discuss.

He was my favourite comedian. He sometimes took things a bit far, but that's what made him stand out and turn into the legend that he was.

He died? Crap! He was one of my favorites. Ah well, life goes on I guess

Although he did some "off color" humor, it was not his main style, nor did he need to be rude to be funny. He was just genuinely funny and he'll be missed.

I hope his death make him popular enough for those who never heard of him to hear his work. It really is some of the best comedy you'll hear. He had a way of taking everyday life and making it humorous. There was also a message behind his work and he was always trying to use his gift to bring people together - to make the world a better place.

One of my favorite has always been "The Hippy Dippy Weather Man", man.

See ya later, George.
